The twelfth-generation of Ford F-150 trucks has a whole slew of engines to choose from. Between 2009 and 2014, a grand total of 6 different engines were available. The Triton 4.6L and 5.4L V8's continued over from 2008 until 2010. In 2011, Ford introduced a 3.7L naturally aspirated V6, the EcoBoost 3.5L V6 and the 5.0L Coyote V8 into the Ford F-150 lineup. All that being said, each engine shares something in common - they can all use an upgrade in the exhaust department. Larger, free-flowing Ford F-150 headers are the first step to unleashing an additional 15-30 horsepower. From there, routing the spent exhaust through low-impedance high flow catalytic converters lessens the backpressure on the engine for another small gain in power. A performance cat-back is the finishing step to complete the exhaust upgrade your Ford F-150. Cat-back systems use mandrel-bent premium stainless steel piping to direct the exhaust from the catalytic converters back to the mufflers, where it quickly rumbles out of the tailpipe with a wickedly addictive noise. Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Borla, and many more all make excellent kits and offer sounds ranging from a slight upgrade over stock to an all out screaming banshee. Aftermarket exhaust components are significantly more durable, more powerful and sound way, way better - there is no reason to keep the stock exhaust on a 2009-2014 Ford F-150.
