The 11th generation Ford F-150 proved to be very popular, with nearly 4 million trucks being sold between 2004 and 2008. Equipped with either a 4.6L V8 producing 231-248 horsepower or a 5.4L Triton with 300 horsepower, both engines came equipped with a hushed, performance degrading exhaust system. Upgrading the stock exhaust components with improved aftermarket parts not only creates a voracious sound but frees up horsepower and torque that is otherwise lost in the inefficiencies of the factory design. Aftermarket 2004-2008 headers, chrome or ceramic coated, add bling to the engine bay, and, not to forget, are good for an additional 10-15 horsepower. Combine the headers with high flow catalytic converters and a matching performance cat-back and muffler system to free up to another 20 horsepower and properly unleash the sound of the V8 up front. With more power and torque on tap, pull everything together aesthetically with a unique polished exhaust tip. Not only do aftermarket exhaust components perform better, they are typically made of either T304 or T409 stainless steel which are both much stronger and longer lasting than the factory aluminized steel.
