The 2” hitch receiver on the back of every Ford Ford F-150 pickup offers many different working possibilities, many of which you can explore using ruggedly made 2009-2014 Ford F-150 hitches and accessories from aftermarket suppliers. Some accessories just protect the hitch when not in use. Hitch plugs keep water and debris out of the receiver while hitch covers add a small plate over the receiver which can be decorated with emblems and be engraved with a few letters (such as “U.S.A.”) or other things expressing your personality. There are many other hitch accessories for a range of purposes. Rear bump steps mount in the hitch which gives you a place to stand while reaching (or climbing) into the pickup bed. The rear steps can also help fend off impacts at the same time. A removable mudflap system, made of lightweight aluminum and rubber, attaches to a trailer hitch with adjustable clamps. The flaps are a half inch thick, and they block stones, gravel, and debris from being kicked up to damage towed boats or trailers. Another option is a titanium based steel towing hook, able to sustain up to 45,000 pounds in some cases, to help with successful recoveries.
