Prevents Engine “Knock”. When the air-fuel mixture self-ignites prematurely, it is known as "knocking." The cylinder head gasket and cylinder head are damaged primarily by prolonged knocking. Our RAM 2500 ignition knock sensors pick up on high-frequency engine vibrations associated with knocking and transmit a signal to the ECU. The goal is to get the most energy out of every gallon of gasoline by cranking as soon as possible. Engines equipped with a knock sensor can improve fuel efficiency while also increasing torque.

Composite Plastic Body. The RAM 2500 Ignition Knock Sensor is extremely resistant due to its durable plastic body. This feature ensures that the sensor will be able to pick up on vibrations from the engine, even if they are of high frequency. Internally, the RAM 2500 Ignition Knock Sensor is made up of a piezo ceramic element. These components are what enable the sensor to pick up on high-frequency vibrations. It is very sensitive, which allows it to detect even the slightest knocking.

Perfect For Novice Mechanics. A RAM 2500 Ignition Knock Sensor is easy to install. The sensor just needs to be unscrewed from the block and have the wiring harness unplugged. Keep in mind that there are two knock sensors on your truck. Both are located underneath the engine, one towards the front and one at the back near the transmission.
