Hailed as GMC's luxury SUV, the fourth generation Yukon continues along this path with a slew of changes to make it quieter, more comfortable and more powerful. Launching in 2015, the fourth generation Yukon is based on the K1 platform, which is shared with the half-ton Sierra pickup. Increased sound deadening material has been built into all of the cabin panels alongside aerodynamic changes to the exterior of the doors, helping make the Yukon considerably quieter when sitting inside. SLE, SLT and Denali denote the trim lineup for this generation, which each level accruing more and more options than the previous. Two engines are available for the duration of the 2015-2020 Yukon - a base 5,3L EcoTec3 V8 that is rated at 355 horsepower, 383 lb-ft of torque and a larger 6.2L V8 that ups the ante to 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Around halfway through the generation, GMC gave the Yukon a bunch of smaller updates and creature comforts such as a new instrument cluster, active grille shutters, revised paint schemes, new seat materials, powered lift-gate (hands-free) and improved media connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While not as nimble or off-road orientated as some of GMC's other vehicles, the Yukon nonetheless is capable of some trail activity when equipped with GMC's on-demand 4WD system. While GMC does not offer any sort of factory off-road oriented package for the 2015-2020 Yukon, the aftermarket has plenty to offer in regards performance improvement and enhancement.
