2007-2014 GMC Yukon Accessories, Parts & Mods
Starting production in 2007 and ending in 2014, the third generation GMC Yukon features a significantly boxier and more angular appearance than its predecessor and now sits on the GMT900 platform. Alongside the complete exterior redesign, the interior, too, has completely changed, with a lot of faux wood and chrome-accented trims pieces used all around. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this third generation of Yukon is the variety of engines and transmissions that were used over the span. At one point, no fewer than 4 engine choices (all V8's) were available. Initially, the base engine was a 4.8L Vortec V8 rated at 295 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. A 5.3L Vortec V8 (320HP/340 lb-ft) was initially available alongside the 4.8L but eventually took over as the base engine as of 2009. During the later years of production, a larger, all-aluminum 6.2L Vortec was the highest performing engine (403 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque) and found exclusively in the high end Denali trim model. Between all of this, a specialty hybrid Yukon was offered, which used a 6.0L V8 gas engine paired with two 80 horsepower electric motors! Initially only mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission, GMC switched to a 6-speed 6L80 as of 2010. With so many engine and equipment options between the SLE, SLT and Denali trim models, the third generation Yukon was a highly versatile SUV that could be optioned to handle pretty much anything minus heavy trail use (4WD was offered on all models). That said, equipping a third gen Yukon for trail use is no big deal thanks to extensive aftermarket support.
