The fifth generation Chevrolet Tahoe was unveiled for 2021. Built upon the GMT1 platform, the 2021-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe is bigger on the outside, roomier on the inside and features a ton of improvements over its predecessor. Starting with the exterior design, the Tahoe body panels have been rounded at the front and back and a commanding new front grille installed to edge away from its earlier boxy appearance. On the inside, cabin space is greatly improved due to the SUV stepping away from a live axle and instead using an independent rear suspension, which helps to lower the floor and lessen the size of the tunnel needed for the driveshaft. Competing in the full-size SUV segment, the 2021-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe is motivated by either a 5.3L V8, 6.2L V8 or - new for this generation - a 3.0L inline-six Duramax diesel engine. This newcomer to the Tahoe lineup packs 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and combines for an EPA rating of 24 mpg city/highway. Even through the use of dynamic fuel management, the EcoTec3-based V8s don't have the same fuel economy, but they do make 355 and 420 horsepower, respectively. Fifth generation owners will be happy to hear that regardless of the engine in their Tahoe, there is plenty of aftermarket support to increase performance. In fact, since the Tahoe is based on the widely used T1 platform, aftermarket support for modifications is quite high.
