2015-2019 GMC Sierra 3500 is the generation where technology is really mated with high strength for the first time in a GM heavy duty pickup. Redesigned from the outside in, the 2015-2019 sports a much more rugged look with an imposing front end and grille and an entire array of driver assist technology and sensors. Forward Collision Warning, Front Park Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise, Rear Park Assist, Trailer Sway Control, Trailering Camera System - all of these available technologies integrate to make the Sierra 3500 safer and easier to drive. Inside, an 8" touch screen has voice control and 4G hotspot capability, the instrument cluster is now a customizable driver display and a wireless charging mat is now integrated into the center console. The underpinnings of the K2XX 2015-2019 Sierra 3500 HD is a high-strength boxed steel frame, with hydraulic body mounts to help reduce road noise and vibration. In terms of drivetrain components, this era of Sierra 3500 saw the introduction of a 6.0L natural gas Vortec V8, mainly directed towards fleet customers. Otherwise, the regular 6.0L Vortec V8 remains the standard engine, churning 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, with the bigger 6.6L Duramax turbodiesel an optional upgrade. In 2017, the Duramax, now designated as LP5, ups the ante to 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. Outfitted with 14" diameter disc brakes all-around and a speed-adaptive power recirculating ball steering system, the Sierra 3500 finished in 2019 with a max tow rating of 20,000 pounds as equipped with a Duramax, 4WD and crew cab with long box.
