New for this era is a 6.6L gas V8 (L8T), which is the default engine for all trim levels. Featuring direct fuel injection and a 10.75:1 compression ratio, this new workhorse V8 pushes out 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The common-rail Duramax diesel (445 HP 910 TQ) remains optional as does a 10-speed Allison transmission. Part of the Sierras rugged look comes from the industry's first ever six-way functional tailgate.
