Revitalize the look your 1997-2003 Ford F-150 pickup truck and give it some modern panache by installing an aftermarket exhaust tip over the stock tailpipe. The Ford factory aluminized exhaust features a 2.5" y-pipe (with one catalytic converter per cylinder bank) leading to a large canister style muffler, installed mid-length, and then running regular exhaust tubing the rest of the length to the back or side of the truck. While functional, the basic tailpipe is very plain. Aftermarket manufacturers such as Magnaflow and Flowmaster have come up with a plethora of different sized exhaust tips, available in durable corrosion-resistant T304 stainless steel, to add some swagger to your pickup. Simply slide over the pre-existing pipe and hold in place with the integrated clamp – there is no cutting or welding required. Another area not to overlook is the stock y-pipe with catalytic converters, which are more restrictive than they need to be. An aftermarket high flow catalytic converter allows for easier passage of exhaust, which equates to less wasted horsepower, while still meeting all applicable emission requirements.
