tough install but end product improved power, mpg

AFE needs to mark intercooler end of the hot hose. intercooler couplings have small orings - cold side intercooler collar got pinched and rolled out of groove. found the air leak with hand around collar while wife revved into the whine - was able to remove hose end & collar without removing metal tube. Yes, I had greased o-ring so lucky it didnt cut the o-ring. reinstalled. now blows up cold hose like a balloon, no leak. 3 hours in I thought for sure they sent the wrong kit - but I had the hot side hose reversed. 2 installers could do job in 1/3 the time. my 2020 2.7L chevy had 3 hose tie downs that had to be pulled - not discussed in instructions. Also, my purge electrical connector never did pull off (white tab clicked to lock/unlock but it was firmly on there) - was afraid it would shatter or break solenoid, so could not completely remove intake runner- that increased my time too. was tough getting the turbo and throttle connectors seated all the way on because of twisted hoses - again- better a 2 person job. doing it again - I would install the hoses on the top metal runners first, install on turbo and throttle body first and then push hose out of way - install intercooler collars, pack the factory wire clip and clamp onto the intercooler and then slip on collar, pop lower hose on, slide on the clamp, and then pop over the wire clip into groove. I tightened the clips to 3/4 compress the spring- no word if that was right on instructions. Clamps are boss. In the end I think it's a very high quality kit and will be easy to remove, if I ever need to. learning curve was a steep for me, but instructions were pretty good - especially the checklists and required tools. Running - it's not a 100hp tire smoking upgrade for the 2.7 - however, the engine power is way smoother that it was before and MPG jumped UP. Got them because deer strike repair never got the intercooler hoses 100% back on right. actually, the cold side was cocked sideways a little when removing - they def were not sealing the best. I do wish the AFE intercooler collars had a thicker Oring. suggestion - grease and lightly stretch the smaller collar Orings out so they take up the groove more and dont twist out of groove like mine did on the cold side. 5 hours install for me - 1 person. I could repeat it in 2 hours next time. gonna run the tank of 87 out and refill with premium next tank to see if that gets tires smoky. 2-3mpg jump im seeing so far, which is great.

      Simple Install, Look great!

I ordered these to replace my stock hot and cold tubes. The pictures in the instructions were a little too zoomed in to really identify all of what it said to do however the install is not hard. The clamps that come with these pipe fittings are much better than stock. A little trick, is to take an extremely thin coat of grease on the O-rings so when sliding the aluminum adapters onto the engine the O-ring won’t be damaged, and it installs easier. I also added an extremely tiny amount to the cold side rubber portion where it connects to the intercooler since it is difficult getting hands in that spot. I did mine hot side first and went back a few days later and did the cold side because I was working a different issue with my truck and already had the hot side off. Highly recommend doing it all in one shot, and once both stock pipes are removed, install the cold pipe first.

AFE BladeRunner Intercooler Hot and Cold Side Tubes

The good points ...Very well made, Have had them on the truck for 3 months no issue The bad , The left side from the turbo was very easy to fit . The right side was much more difficult and took a long time to get right. The very high tech clamps that were included did not fit at all. I had to use the original factory clamps

      AFE Bladrunner down tubes

They are very easy to install and the fit is perfect and gave me a crips response even with air charger and pedal command I still noticed the difference and I was able to pull the cotton out of my boost gauge the air is flowing through smoothly

AFE Bladerunner 2.5” hot side charge pipes

Wow! Game changer. 5 stars for performance increase alone. I added inlet ‘boost’ tubes shortly after installing the Bladerunner intercooler and noticed a more powerful boost while I was under boost; but, these hot side charge pipes were the missing piece to the puzzle! Everything feels tighter and way more responsive. It nearly eliminated any turbo lag. I’ve only had them on for about a week now but it feels like a whole new, more powerful truck! Highly recommend these hot side intercooler pipes if you have done any upgrades to your Raptor (especially if you have or are planning on getting a tune). Air flow on these ecoboost engines is key to unlocking their potential! Install was a bit of a pain as the pipes took a bit of fine tuning to get everything to fit together properly. Couplings are a little difficult to work with when it’s 40 degrees outside and the install took most of my day. All I needed were simple hand tools to get the job done though. If your planning on upgrading your turbo inlet tubes then I would go ahead and knock these out at the same time. It is a bit challenging to work around the inlet tubes unless you have an extra set of hands. All in all the gains out weigh the install time tenfold.

      Fantastic Quality!

The AFE Bladerunner GT series Intercooler is larger and better quality than the OEM intercooler. It definitely keeps the charge air temps down.
