2020 Ram 2500

Ram 2500 is the best selling picking in the Ram heavy-duty truck lineup. For 2020, the Ram 2500 saw only minor tech-related changes and upgrades. For example, blind-spot monitoring (with trailer view), trailer tire pressure monitoring, adaptive steering, auxiliary camera system and lane-assist are no longer reserved for the higher trim levels - they can be ordered even with a base Tradesman. Other than that, a Heavy Duty Night Edition - comprised of a monochromatic theme with 20" black wheels, black interior and black badging - is really the only other change up for this years' model. The 6.4L V8 continues its duty as the base engine, with the more powerful 6.7L Cummins turbo-diesel an available upgrade. An 8-speed automatic transmission is the default transmission for the gas Hemi whereas a stronger AISIN 6-speed is equipped with the diesel motor.

Light at Night

When it comes to adding auxiliary LED lighting to your 2020 Ram 2500 pickup, there are a few variables to consider. First and foremost is light size, as this directly affects where the light can even be mounted. Sizing wise, it is important to note that bigger is no longer always better. Continuous advancements in the light diode technology and efficiency means the smaller bars now pack a considerable punch. Brightness is measured in lumens. The higher the lumen output, the brighter the LED bar or spot light is going to be (not to be confused with watts, which is a measure of energy consumption). Size is also important in reference to mounting location. A large bar is only likely to fit atop the roof, whereas medium to small light bars and spot lights can easily be integrated onto the front and rear bumpers, the grille and the tailgate. Next is lens type. This is important because the lens arrangement will dictate how the light is dispersed. To expand, a spot lens is intended to focus the beam for a longer distance, but with limited horizontal spread. Conversely, a flood beam does the opposite - disperse a wide light path with less forward penetration. A hybrid lens, which are most common these days, offer both spot focus and flood spread, making them the best of both worlds.

Elegant Box Organization

2020 Ram 2500 owners that like the organization and use of space that the factory RAMBOX provide will be pleased to know that a similar level of organization can be implemented in the bed. There are plenty of innovative tool box and storage systems that are designed specifically to compartmentalize and organize the bed of a Ram 2500. Classic bed mount tools boxes are still widely available. Generally mounted up against the cab, these tool boxes are sturdy and secure thanks to their all metal construction and lockable lid. For those that are after something a little more exotic, there are new slide out storage systems that fit the entire bed yet still retain excellent large item and payload capability. These storage systems, made from aluminum and mild steel, give full length drawers and compartments that are accessed by sliding drawers out the back. On top is a durable deck that can still act as a surface on which to place large items - most of these systems are rated to hold as much as 2000 lbs on the top deck. Finally, given the large stance and wheel wells of the 2020 Ram 2500, there is a lot of space left behind the rear wheel and the tailgate. Aftermarket manufacturers have taken advantage of this area and offer a bed-mounted fender storage box. Contouring the fender and running flush with the tailgate, these hardcover cases (usually made from a rigid thermoplastic) are a great place to keep items like tie-downs, tow straps, and tow bars. They are easy to access and some even swing out on a hinge to further improve accessibility.
