Description
Carry Bikes With Ease. Your Dodge RAM 1500 is the perfect vehicle to go exploring in for days at a time. Load it up! That's what it was built for. Even with all this utility, hauling bikes is a pain. Sure you can carry them on a roof rack but you need a ladder to get to them and putting them in the bed means that they are on their sides and can get damaged. The Surco 4-Bike Rack for 2 in. Receiver Hitch solves these problems by quickly mounting into your receiver hitch and giving you easy and secure access to your bikes, so you spend more time exploring than trying to climb that ladder.
Sturdy & Secure. This is an extremely sturdy unit that is made of heavy grade steel tubing that is braced for stability and rigidity. It has a top plate that has a padded channel to securely grip, without scratching, up to four bicycles. The top plate that is also lockable so that the bicycles remain secure. This is a one piece unit that has a heavy black powder coat to resist road grime, rust and corrosion.
Installation Notes. This product doesn't so much install as it is mounted using the standard 2 inch receiver that is already on your Dodge RAM 1500. It slides into the receiver and is secured with a mount pin just like any trailer hitch. If your vehicle does not have a 2 inch receiver, one can easily be installed by a professional.

Misleading Instructions
The rails attach permanently to the roof. The instructions are very sketchy but they do stipulate 30" max between rails. I installed accordingly but that put it too close to center of roof and the roof deflects when the safari rack is installed. The rails need to be installed nearer the door as shown in the picture for F150 installation.

screws too short
i bought the rack the standoffs and the roof channels, nice rack high tech and good quality, extremely disappointed in channels for 2016 f150, they had to be bent to match roof contour and all of the mounting screws were too short, and on top of that, the inserts did not hold, had to add adhesive to the inserts and under the roof channels for good hold, cost me 15 bucks extra and 3 hours time after i drilled holes im my $43,000 truck.

Does not fit as picture shows
Does not fit as picture shows. I was excited that I finally found something that fits in this trucks rail track as shown in pics (manufacturer and this site do not give width info on product so I went with this pic as proof). It does not fit by almost 3/8”.

It is not the rack around the tire it's just the mounting bracket underneath wish it came with some sort of rubber to protect the car otherwise very good product
