2008 Chevy 2500

Product built well, 1/4" thick steel used for structural bumper components, 3/8" used for mounting brackets and mounting plate. Bumper has a more forward profile than a factory bumper, approximately 6" to 8" of horizontal top plate which does compliment the overall style of this bumper. Use of a nylon strap center pick and a chain hoist made for easy one person installation, which also allowed for easy alignment and fit-up. Two spacer plates are used for under the tow hooks and two thicker spacers are used under the truck frame, installation instructions did not mention their placement.

Great bumper poor QC from manufacturer

The bumper was shipped using truck freight. The company selected for the shipping had horrible customer service for delivery. Ended up picking up at their depot. It was very well packaged. The bumper was supposed to be a direct fit for factory proximity sensors. Uh big no! 2 of the 6 worked well but the other 4 were not compatible with the sensors. Had to cut off and use JB weld to hold plastic sleeves in place. Additionally, the fog lights were also supposed to be a direct fit. Again big NO! They were welded in-place in the wrong spot and the light would not line up per the installed mounts. Had to cut them off as well and re-drill new holes and use zip ties to hold the light in place. I would have sent the bumper back but the freight company was not willing to come to my house to pick it up so I was stuck with this very heavy bumper. I was able to get my American Ingenuity to work and function finally and then the bumper installed pretty easily with the a motorcycle jack I have. On a positive note, American Trucks did right by me and made things right. I would buy from them again.

Guy's Silverado

I installed these onto my 2014 Silverado double cab with a 6.5' bed I have a ARE Fiberglass bed cover that I mounted the rails onto for appearance and they look great. I measured 5.5" from the outside edge of the bed cover and forward enough to clear the rear locking mechanism . Start with the rear bolt hole first and the front hole will be fine, just measure 5.5" in from the outside edge of the cover to the outside edge of the mounting flange. I put masking tape over were I was going to drill I traced the hole of the flange with a sharpy onto the tape so as not to chip the paint. I also put a small amount of RTV gasket maker around the hole between the base of the flange and the top of the bed cover so that it will be water tight.

Easier than I thought

I installed this by myself and used a chain lift to hoist it up with a lifting strap. It’s heavy but it came wrapped in a nice cloth blanket which allowed me to drag it around and get it into position to lift up. The instructions are not ideal but if you’re handy or built enough Lego sets as a kid you can figure it out. Just make sure you set a level on it before you tighten everything down. I ended up tightening everything only to discover it sat uneven.

upon receipt, the bumper appeared to be packaged really well. upon unpacking there was a large scratch on passenger side through the powdercoating and down to metal, about 3" long and 1/2" wide. American gave me credit towards my next purchase or ship it back. took the credit. Fit the bumper itself fit well to the truck, the front sensors though do not fit the method they provided and could not transfer them over which was why i ordered the bumper with the sensors holes, no way i could get the "set screws" in the available openings on some of the placements. other holes were so big that the senor had a large gap around the diameter, poor appearance. so i decided to put the supplied rubber plugs in the holes since i wasnt going to use the sensors and they just fell out the holes were so big. the factory fog lights fit in the brackets supplied with some bending/tweaking to match the holes. but do not align to the openings in the bumper, so only get about 50% of the light out. Quality see above for some of the issues. Hardware worked as far as the items i used. broke one of the welded mounts for the sensors as i installed it, not a good weld apparently Appearance appearance not counting the huge scratch down to metal was good. not a fan that the air intake for the intercooler is blocked by the license plate mount location. Installation for a diesel, you need to loosen the intercooler in order to get it out of the way enough so that the double bolt brackets can be removed. you will have to cut the double bolts off to remove. getting the hardware loosened up enough or removed out of the way took a very long time as they are not easy to get to. overall, disappointed in the final 10% of the bumper. rest of it was ok.

Great Look, Instructions Suck

I love the look and it seems to be built well. I will say the instructional videos done by AT are not very helpful. The top bracket install is very difficult to do with an ecoboost. There should be a 10 minute video for that portion alone. I ended up having to take off front bumper in order to get to the required bolt. I was able to attach the lower bracket and towhooks with no problems. Definitely recommend having a buddy with you when installing.

Front bumper

I just installed this on my 2010 ram 2500 and it seems to be a well made bumper for the price point. Looks good as other posted pics. Arrived well packaged too. Follow instructions and you’ll be happy.
