Justin: If the factory chrome rear bumper in your 2002 to 2008 RAM has faded or has just seen better days, well, then you should definitely consider this affordable replacement that we're talking about here today. Now, this option is built to the exact specs as your factory rear bumper and will be completed in a beautiful chrome finish off of the low $400 price point. Install, at least according to the site, it's gonna get a middle-of-the-road two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and take a couple of hours or so to complete from start to finish as we'll show you later in the video. So as I just mentioned, this is gonna be a super affordable means to replacing a damaged or faded factory chrome bumper and doing so rather easily. Now, I say easily in this case because unlike other options that you might encounter out there, this bumper for your RAM is essentially as turnkey as it gets, guys. What I mean by that is all of the brackets are pre-installed, ready to go. You have the traction pad, the plastic surface on top pre-installed. We have built-in cutout here for your trailer plug or wiring, and they even have included brand new license plate lights here as well. Again, everything is pre-installed, ready to go right out of the box.But outside of that, this bumper has been made from durable die-form steel plating and is easily on par with the factory bumper in regards to just overall heft or thickness and therefore durability. Now, the cherry on top, in my opinion, is gonna be the beautiful chrome finish or chrome plating to finish things off, which again looks great and is on par with that of the factory chrome package trucks. Now, if you have a factory color-match rear bumper and you're having a tough time finding a suitable or affordable replacement, well, you can always scuff and paint this thing as well as some of our customers have pointed out in the review section. As always, guys, feel free to read up on some of those before pulling the trigger to hear what other RAM owners have to say about this affordable option. Now, the bumper itself does include a few things to help get everything installed, including the new brackets, which we've already talked about, but it also does include some hardware as well. Now, to give you a better idea of just how things will go down on your RAM at home, feel free to check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown now.Man: The tools you'll need for this project are an impact gun or ratchet, a 14-millimeter wrench, a 14 and a 15-millimeter socket, and a T25 Torx bit.Hi, everyone. Today we're replacing the rear bumper on our RAM pickup, so let's get started with the uninstall first. As you can tell, we've got our truck up on a lift, but you do not have to have your truck elevated in order to be able to get this bumper off. You can do this on the ground. We've only got ours up on the lift so that we can give you a better view of what you're gonna be doing to remove this bumper. So let's go ahead and get started. So we've got two bolts on this side of the bumper that attach to a bracket on the frame, and we've got two on the other side. So we're gonna go ahead and take these two off first. Now, you should have...these should be two 15-millimeter bolts. Now, ours have obviously been replaced before, so our socket size is going to be a little bit different. But if you've never replaced yours before, these should be 15-millimeter bolts. Let's go ahead and get those out. Now you can do the same thing for the other side.Next, we're going to go ahead and disconnect our license plate lights. And to do that, we're just going to simply twist it and pull the bulb out of the license plate light itself, and do the same thing for the other side. Next thing we're going to do is disconnect our trailer hitch here. Now, there should be a red locking tab on the top of the connector here. So what you want to do is slide that connector out and then push on the black release tab here on the end. and then go ahead and pull that out. Next thing you're going to want to do is remove your license plate so that you can access these two remaining bolts that are holding your bumper on. Now, we've obviously already removed our license plate, so let's go ahead and remove these two bolts here, again using your 15-millimeter socket. Now, at this point, if you've got an extra pair of hands, it'd be great. Otherwise, you're going to need to make sure that you support your bumper so that it doesn't fall off when you remove this last bolt. Now, with that last bolt removed, we can go ahead and lift our bumper off and get it out of the way. Now we're ready to attach our new mounting brackets to the back of our bumper here and we're going to be using the supplied nuts and bolts that come with the kit. So to do this, what we're going to do is we're going to put these bolts in from the back side of the bumper facing out and then put the nuts on as well. Now, we're not going to tighten these down just yet because we're going to allow for adjustment once we actually get it on the vehicle. So let's go ahead and get these brackets on. So put our bolt in from the backside, slide our bracket over top, and then put our nut on. Do the same thing for the lower bolt. And when you put these brackets on, you want to make sure that the angle is towards the inside of the bumper, so that way these brackets here will go right up against the frame when you mount them on the truck itself. Now you can repeat the process for this bracket on the other side as well.Next thing we need to do is transfer our trailer connector here to our new bumper. So to remove this, we're going to use our T25 Torx bit and unscrew the four screws in each of the corners and pull this out, and then we'll transfer it over to the new bumper. Once you've got your four screws out, you can remove the back support panel and just slide it out. Now we'll go ahead and put this on our new bumper. Just slide our connector in, put our backing plate on, and then reinstall the screws that we took out earlier. Now we're ready to put our bumper on our truck. Now, before we actually lift this up and put it on our truck, I want to point out something. On the top of this bracket here where the bumper mounts to, you'll notice on each side there's an alignment pin to help you get this in the right place. It's a little tough to see, but it's right here, and there's another one on the other side. So when you lift the bumper up, you can use those pins to help guide it into place and then go ahead and insert the original hardware and get this thing secured and bolted up. We'll go ahead and insert our two bolts here in the back just to make sure that it stays in place and doesn't fall off while we're doing everything else. All right, now we'll go ahead and lift our truck back up so that you can get a better view of what we're doing underneath. All right, so now we'll go ahead and install our original hardware into the two holes in this new bracket here, and get those tightened down. I do recommend before you tighten this side down, go ahead and install the bolts on the other side as well just to make sure that there's not going to be any problem getting things lined up. Once you've got these two here and two on the other side installed, then go ahead and tighten them down. We can do our adjustments for the bumper height from the other two bolts. All right, so we've already got our other side tightened down, now we'll tighten up these two here. Now we can check our alignment on the bumper itself, make sure that it's at the right height and even from side to side, and then we'll go ahead and tighten those up. All right, now we can go ahead and tighten up the two bolts and nuts that hold our bumper to our bracket and we'll be using our 14-millimeter socket and our 14-millimeter wrench. Now you can repeat that process for the other side. Now, since our new bumper does come with new license plate bulbs, we'll go ahead and remove these from our original harness simply by pushing down on the black release tab here, sliding the socket out, and then plugging the harness into the new light. And we'll do the same thing for the other side. Now we can go ahead and also plug in our trailer harness, push that in, don't forget to push the red locking tab on top, and now we'll go out and we'll tighten the last two bolts on the outside of the bumper. And that wraps up our review and install of the OEM Style Steel Rear Bumper in Chrome for the '02 to '08 RAM 1500. Thanks for watching, and remember, for all things RAM, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.

Got as open box was great deal
Got this as an open box item for my grandparents new to them truck. The old bumper I think was only held together by chrome and plastic parts. this bumper only had a vary small dent on the right side and the left corner was slightly bent in. I was able to satisfactorily fix the damage after removing the plastic parts around the damaged areas. I reused the old license plate light brackets because they seemed to fit better in the bumper and used the new retaining clips for them. considering the savings this was well worth it.

Easy Replacement
Bent my stock bumper pretty good. This was a direct replacement. Easy to install, factory quality, and ended up looking better than what was on it. Less scratched so it was much shinier. It's nice that it came with the replacement plastic steps already installed.

2004 Chrome Rear Bumper
Excellent Bumper even had the lights for the license plate. Black plastic already on and the chrome looks great. Especially compared to my old bumper. Easy install with the brackets and the hardware included. 5 stars from me. I had sprayed PB blaster on the bolts a couple of times before the install.
