Buried in the engine bay of your Ram 1500 rests an extremely important system that is anything but unloved by the aftermarket: the intake system. The starting point is the airbox, which consists of the air filter all the way to, and including, the intake manifold. Before the air is drawn into the intake manifold, it has to move through the throttle body. The throttle body’s job is to control how much air can enter the engine at any given point in time. Once the air enters the intake manifold it is distributed into each cylinder as required. Since long before late model Rams, the intake system has been an area where modifications have been focused. Engines are air pumps, and naturally the more air they can move the better they can do their jobs; more air creates more power and even better efficiency.

Allowing your Ram to breathe better will net more horsepower and potentially some MPGs. Cold air intakes and throttle bodies are rather straightforward modifications and a perfect place to start modifying your Ram.
