Whether stock or tuned an upgraded intake system is one of the best mods for the Duramax LML. Bringing more air into the engine will reduce the amount of stress on the turbo and increase its efficiency, leading to horsepower and torque gains. Furthermore, it will increase turbo spool and throttle response while also providing some solid gas mileage improvements (approx. 1-2mpg). 

The benefits of an upgraded intake are amplified when you combine it with a tuner or custom tuning. The factory intake becomes restrictive at higher power and boost levels which makes it important to bring more air to the turbocharger to reduce stress and help the turbo reach these higher boost levels.

Our large 4" open air intake will significantly increase airflow over the factory LML intake system. Our aluminum piping is CNC mandrel bent and combined with a nice wrinkle black finish to help reduce heat transfer from the engine bay heat. Furthermore we use only the highest quality S&B air filters to craft an affordable yet high quality and high performance intake system.

Power gains are amplified when our intake is combined with tuning. Stock engines won't see the power gains discussed above but will still get minor gains in addition to fuel economy increases, better turbo spool and throttle response, and the cool sounds.

Our intake is a completely open intake system. While a closed box intake will still outflow the factory LML intake it will underflow and underperform against an open intake from a power and performance standpoint. Any minor increases in air temps are mitigated by the intercooler - the benefits of the additional airflow from an open system outweigh the negatives from 1-2 degree higher IATs.
