The intake elbow/horn connects the intercooler piping to the intake manifold, routing the charged air to the engine after it is compressed by the turbo and cooled by the intercooler. The factory intake horn on Ford's 6.0 Powerstroke is small with imperfect bends in it, which restricts airflow from the turbo to the engine.
_x000D_Upgrading the intake horn to a larger 3" diameter piping with smoother bends in it allows for a 50%+ increase in airflow which results in a number of performance benefits including increased turbo spool, lower exhaust gas temperatures, and minor horsepower gains. While an intake horn won't necessarily provide the greatest power gains it is a great supporting modification as it reduces stress put on the turbocharger and can help lower EGTs by 50-200+ degrees.
_x000D_An intake horn upgrade is a great additional modification to do alongside our Boosted Performance 6.0 Powerstroke Cold Air Intake.
_x000D_Our 6.0 Powerstroke intake horn is made of aluminum with a wrinkle-black finish on it. The aluminum piping is CNC mandrel bent and features a precision machined billet flange that is TIG welded, capable of holding higher boost levels than the factory horn. The piping is 3" in diameter, increasing capacity and flow over the factory unit. Note that our intake elbow does not include NPT ports/bungs for meth injection, nitrous, gauges, etc.
