Noah: I'm Noah from AmericanTrucks, and this is the Barricade HD Off-Road Rear Bumper, fitting the 2020 and newer Silverado 2500 HD. Now, if you're replacing a beat-up stock rear bumper or you're just looking to install a beefier one to protect the bed of your truck, then you should really check out this one from Barricade. Right off the bat, this thing looks pretty rugged. It feels great, it's pretty heavy, and it's definitely going to be able to handle a beating and keep your bed safe if you're bumping into anything or anything is bumping into you in the trail or in the mud or anything like that. Now, also, if you just think that it looks really tough, that's okay, and that's reason enough for a bumper upgrade in my book as well. Now, this guy is going to protect you regardless of why you bought it because it's all steel, it's full width, and it even wraps around the corners of the bed here, and it's not just one of those stubby bumpers that covers up just the middle area of the tailgate. Now, this guy is a direct replacement of the factory bumper, and there isn't any cutting or fabrication required. As far as construction goes, we're looking at 530 seconds thick steel plate with a sort of cutout design here on the wings and on the corners. That's not only going to act as a style point, but it also functions as a step here on the very corner as well. Now, the whole bumper is coated in a textured black two-stage powder coat. It feels really nice, and it's going to keep the steel from rusting as well as give your shoe some traction, and, most importantly, it's going to keep the bumper from scratching. Now, overall, this guy is designed to bolt right up in the same way the factory one comes off, and it looks right at home on a completely stock truck as well, so you don't need to worry about it looking disproportionate and out of place.Coming in around 800 bucks, this bumper is going to fall on the more affordable option side of the offerings available on our site. This one doesn't have any lights included or anything along those lines, so that's where you're going to see some of the savings come from. For the install, it's going to be a difficulty of two out of three wrenches and two hours for the install time. Everything you need for the install is included or gets transferred over to this bumper, so it really shouldn't be too much trouble to get it bolted up, especially since there's provisions for all your sockets and other things along those lines. Now, I will recommend that you have a friend nearby to give you a hand holding it while you get it bolted up. And to walk you through the install process, next up, we've got an AT customer who installed this bumper on their own Silverado.Man: These tools were used for the install: impact gun, 1/2-inch ratchet, 1/2-inch 18-millimeter, 30-millimeter, 1/4-inch ratchet with 7-millimeter, flat-head screwdriver and Phillips-head, wrench, 18-millimeter, 19-millimeter, trim removal tools, and a 4-millimeter Allen wrench. So today we will be installing a Barricade HD Off-Road Rear Bumper on my Chevy 2500 HD. As you can see, the new bumper is laid out just behind the bumper that I'm going to take off. So the first step is going to involve taking off the license plate holder with the license plate. These are Philips-heads, so I'm going to be using a Philips-head screwdriver to take these off.So the next step is to remove these bolts. I'm using a metric set, and a 13-millimeter will fit those bolt heads. And I will be using an impact gun on a slow setting to remove the bolts. The next step is a little bit more difficult to show, but I'm going to give it a shot. So, as you can see there my finger is pointing at, that is a light for the license plate. That needs to come off then all these clips all the way around. Now, we have here the electrical connection for the trailer that needs to come off and on this side also another light for the license plate and also... Let me see if we can pull it out. These are attached to the bumper, also needed to come off. So it's going to be a little bit difficult to show me how to remove these clips, but I'm going to give it a shot. I will be using a plastic trim removal tool so I do not damage the plastics or the clips. Let me see if I can get it done and wedge... All right, now, I've wedged it in between, almost. All right, as you can see, it's kind of wedged in now, so I'm going to try to pull on it, see if I can remove them. It's quite stuck. All right. They do come off, and as you can see, they also bend a little bit, unfortunately, but they're really stuck on it, so you really have to give it a good pull. Let me see if I can try to show also how to remove this one. It's gonna be the same as, of course, the other one, but the more footage the merrier. All right. This one is a bit more difficult because the tire is kinda in the way. Let me give it a nod. To wiggle it a little bit, and it's off. So they're really, really tight on there. So a few of the clips are easier to remove just behind the license plate holder as you can see. I'm moving this one now. I've already removed it, so you can push it from the outside. Well, makes it a little bit easier. There is also one on this side. I haven't removed it yet. It has clips that you can push in from down and above, so you can opt them off. As you can see, this one is also now loose. All right, so I've removed them all now, and I'll try to explain what I did. So the ones for the license plate light, if you pull the plug out and then the retainer, so this plastic piece, sorry if I mispronounce it, it's a lot easier. So I'm gonna say there are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine clips in total that you have to remove, and this is laid out all over the bumper on the back. I will also show you where I removed those. So, as you can see, also for the license plate holder, the clip is mounted. It was mounted. Oh, focus right there. And then on the other side... Let me see if I can show here. It was also mounted right above it. The next step is to remove this bolt. It's near the exhaust. There's one on the right side and also one on the left side of the vehicle. Also, for the removal of this bolt, I'll be using the impact gun with a size 13-millimeter.And this is the second one. Let me see if I can. And this was the second one. For the next step, I'm going to unplug the trailer all-plug, which this has a clip on it, you pull it back as you can see, and there's a little tab on it that you need to push, and then it should come right off. On that notch, as you can see, that is where it connects. And if you push on, it goes up. So you can pull it back. Show how to remove the housing for the trailer connection. It's already loose now as you can see, but there are tabs on the side. I will try to recreate it with me. So I put it back in now. I will show you how to remove it. So there are tabs on both sides. You press them tightly, and from the other side, you pull. It's kind of a jiggle or a wiggle, I mean, and it's kind of difficult to recreate that again. And it's loose, and I will show from the other side how it looks actually. So to show it more in depth, these are the clips that I was talking about, these metal clips. You need to push them in from both sides at the same time and then pull to try to get them out. So you release them here. This is where they hold on to.So these two nuts are attached to the frame of the car which hold the bumper in place, and I'll be removing those using a wrench. Can you see? This is a 18-millimeter, which fits really good. So let me see if I can loosen them up. So it's quite easy there actually. You don't need a lot of force. All right. You could use an impact wrench on this one, but I just don't want to get the extensions. And, actually, it doesn't take much force to get these out. Bottom, the top one is a bit more difficult, but still... [inaudible 00:12:06]. As you can see, they are also on the right side of the truck. These I'll also be removing, see if I can... Exhaust kinda in the way. All right, that's one. Now, for the flat one...I would expect them to be more tight because it's factory fitted, but it's quite okay actually. You won't need a breaker bar or anything probably to break these loose. But, I mean, you could still use one. So after taking those bolts off, the bumper is pretty much loose. So I'm going over there to pull it off right now. All right, so I've taken off the harness for the license plate lights just to show you guys where the connector or the plastic fittings all go. So, like I said, one goes here, the other one goes there. One goes here, here, and then we have one, I'm sorry, there, another one there. One here. Go to the other side. One here and the last one here. So this is like an overlay so you can see, like an overview of how it is wired behind the bumper. And this connector, actually, when you pull the red tab out, you press this black piece, and then you can pull it off. Let me see, it connects to here. So, for the installation of the aftermarket bumper, you don't need to remove this cable, wiring harness, you don't have to remove this wiring harness, but I just did it to show where all these plastic fittings in the bumper go to because they're really kind of difficult to get off, to take off. But if you hold them here and use a plastic trimming tool and pull at the same time, then they do come off. But they are kind of really stuck on there, so you really kind of need to pull it. So there are some items that you need to take off of the old bumper and install it on the new bumper. So the housing for the license plate light, one on the right side and one on the left side. And, also, if you want to make it look more neat, is to remove this bracket, which is for lowering the spare tire. And I'll be removing that first. There is a tab on both sides. You need to go for the tab on the left side. It will make it a lot easier. Again, I'm using a trim removal tool to push on it, push it in. You see, now I have. It goes to the left and from there on out. Let me see if I can use a trim removal tool on the right side, and then it pops off. And then you can take it out and install it on the new bumper. So, for the removal of the housing for the license plate light, I'm gonna use a 7-millimeter socket with a ratchet. It shouldn't be too difficult. So I just showed how to remove the license plate holder correction on clip. It doesn't go on the new bumper as it already has a place, and also the bolt does also not fit on the new bumper, but the new one is supplied in the delivery, so you don't need these two parts. You can keep them with the old bumper if you ever plan to install it back again, but for now, we won't be using these. Let's get the one on the left side. So we will be installing this back onto the bumper. This is more like a tunnel or more like a funnel to release or drop down the spare tire. So you can see these tabs, they will click into place on the new bumper. Let me show you from up close. Let me show you how to pop that one in. So because the cover opens this way, you need to put it like that. It should pop into place like that. And, now, it's snug, and it's fitted right. Now, let me do the one on this side. Same again. Let's place it in there. To bolt in, first turn it by hand, goes a lot quicker. Let's grab the Allen key. Also, don't tighten it too much because it's plastic or it will break. It's not going anywhere, so that's enough. So now I'm going to install these mesh pieces into this hole here. You can see here there is an edge. So it's easier if the bumper is upside down, it's facing down. So, well, now like this. And then the same bolt as I used for the bracket of the license plate light will also feature in this and with a nut. I might need to put this on there. Half hand to tighten it. Now, you use the Allen, and I'm holding the nuts with my hand. And, again, these also don't have to be very tight because, I mean, there is not much force coming out of there. So, that's enough. Let's do the other one.Like I said, these nuts and bolts are also included in the kit. All right, and that is tight enough for now. Yes. So this is pretty snug. Let's do the other side. Put the mesh in there. All right, center it a little bit out. And then... Okay, and tighten this one. And then... And tighten. This side, loosen this a little bit up so I can even it out. I want to tighten this side first because it has a little bit more play, a little bit more space. All right, now, let's tighten this side a little bit to even it out. Okay, a little bit more on this side. Yup, that sits tight. And also just a bit more here on that side. It's still moving a little bit. So now I'm going to install the parking brake lights on before I put the bumper on because it will make it a lot easier if these are already in place. That is one side. You put them in, and then you twist them to the right, and then it locks. Though, fortunately, well, the bad part is on the new bumper there are no places for these plugs, so, for now, I'm going to keep it loose, so I'm not going to tie it up to anything. When I'm under the car, I will see if I can zip-tie them to the frame or to somewhere else to at least try to tuck these, like, nicely away instead of letting them hang loose, so we'll give that a shot. Now, I'm going to pick up the bumper and try to put it on the back of the car. This one is a bit more heavy than the original one because it's more of metal. So a close-up from the bumper. I haven't still pushed it into place yet, but I'm going to make a close-up so I can show a few important features or things to look for. So, like this cable, try to keep it on the other side so it doesn't get wedged between these two metal parts. And also a very important one which will make me... And I will need to take the bumper off again a little bit because... Let me show underneath what I did not do is you shouldn't see... This is a tunnel, like, for lowering the tire, the spare tire, and these two, of course, need to line up, and this is not flexible, neither is this. So I'm going to pull back the bumper a little bit so I can align these two with each other. That's all it took, just a little nudge, moving the right side up and guiding with your left hand to this part so it fits all together. Let me show it underneath. This is the after. As you can see, we're now inside. This one does move a little bit, but it's not flexible. So you do have some play. I pulled this back a little bit, and it was enough to guide this into place. So it sits now correctly. Now, these two locations, they hold the bumper into place with the hardware that I just showed. Good tip is to first do the upper one and then the lower because you don't have enough clearance, otherwise if you do the bottom one first, you won't be able to reach the top one. Now, let me put the bolt in across the top one with the washer and then put the washer on across the center and then the bolts, oh, sorry the nuts. And then tighten it. All right. Now, I'm going to use a wrench, one side 19-millimeter for the nut and a ratchet with 18-millimeter for the bolt. Let's do the right side, also the top one. All right, bolt in place. Now, because the exhaust is on this side, it's a little bit more difficult. I'm sorry. It's a bit more difficult but not that much. All right, washer on and on we see. We put the bolt on with the nuts on. It's kinda difficult. That's hand-tight.Now, let's use the tools. Wrench on the back side and the ratchet on... All right, now, repeat that for the bottom portion. All right. This is the last one on the left side. All right, that's tight. Now, we're going to put back the trailer plug. You just push it in, and it pops right in. All right. So don't forget to connect the harness for that license plate light. It fits into place. Press the red tab forward, and that's it. Mentioned before, there are multiple ways to fasten these wires to the chassis or to other wires. It's kind of up to you how you want to do that because there are more ways. I'll probably tie-rip it to the chassis right here. So if you don't have parking sensors like I do, you have these small caps that's included in the kit. You just pop them in so it looks nice. So you also have these small tabs that are included. You pop those in here, and that's where you can use the screws to put the license plate back on again.Noah: That was the Barricade HD Off-Road Rear Bumper, fitting the 2020 and newer Silverado 2500 HD.
