2017 Ford F-250

The venerable Ford F-250 is all-new for 2017. It not only receives an extensive redesign, but Ford has made the 2017 F-250 Super Duty more rigid and capable than ever before. It now has bulkier cross members and frame rails crafted from 95-percent high-strength steel. Despite the added heft, Ford has negated the weight gain by adding aluminum body panels and an aluminum pickup box like its F-150 brethren. It also gets a host of new technology features like LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and advanced towing features like a trailer-length blind-spot monitoring system and a tire pressure monitoring system for the trailer. The F-250 is available in five trim levels, three body styles (regular, extended, crew cab), and two bed sizes. The standard engine is a 6.2-liter gasoline-fed V8 engine with 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Optional is a 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine with 440 horsepower and 925 pound-feet of torque. Both have a six-speed automatic gearbox with rear-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive. The F-250 can tow up to 18,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Sturdier Legs

Upgrading the suspension in your 2017 Ford F-250 is not rocket science. However, you need to define your truck's role before purchasing suspension upgrades. The stock suspension is ideal for most daily drives and the occasional towing or hauling. But if your heavy-duty truck will frequently tow a light-duty camper or carry heavy tools and equipment in the bed, you might notice the rear end squatting under duress. If you feel this in your truck, you should consider upgrading the suspension. Replacing the shock absorbers is a worthy stage 1 suspension upgrade that pays dividends without lifting your truck aggressively. You could also look into adding leaves or helper springs to the rear suspension to make it stronger and more capable when carrying heavy loads. Just keep in mind that if adding a helper spring or another leaf to the main pack, total load is still limited by the front and rear axle ratings. Therfore, heavy duty shock absorbers and helper springs are really just intended to help from bottoming out, not increase payload.

Style and Substance

Off-road bumpers are a relatively easy and affordable way to give your 2017 Ford F-250 a worthy styling upgrade. Aftermarket bumpers are more durable than stock and can better withstand the rigors of off-road driving. With all-steel construction and trimmed designs, off-road bumpers will also improve your rig's approach and departure angles, not to mention getting a customized style along the way. But then again, off-road bumpers are not all-show and no-go. Installing new bumpers opens the doors to a slew of aftermarket accessories and attachments like winches, light bars, tow hooks, brush guards and many more. Best of all, rugged bumpers offer better protection against wayward branches and other debris. If you insist on rolling stock but need additional protection against scrapes and bumps, a brush guard can be installed over the stock front bumper.

Good Housekeeping

The 2017 Ford F-250 is a tough-looking truck, but the interior doesn't have to be that way. You can preserve the like-new condition of your truck's carpets with a high-quality set of all-weather floor liners. Unlike the stock floor mats, floor liners offer an exacting fit to offer advanced protection against mud, dirt, sand, snow, liquid spills, and other hard-to-remove stains. Rubber or rubberized floor liners are also resistant to chemicals and extreme temperature changes, allowing them to withstand extreme abuse without shrinking or shredding. Floor liners are easy to install and easier to clean. All you need is to rinse with water, wipe them dry, and you're ready to go! Floor liners may cost more than a standard set of floor mats, but nothing offers better protection against mud and stains while giving your truck's interior a more premium vibe.
