Westin's HDX Series brush guard in stainless we're working with today is going to be a great and premium option full face brush guard for '09 through '14 owners out there that are after one of the biggest and baddest setups out there. Despite its size or just how large this is, this is going to install with little to no effort at all. For that I will be giving this an easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here, about a two hour job with basic hand tools, and I will show you how coming up soon. This should definitely appeal to the truck owners out there for a couple of different reasons. You're either going to be in the camp that just wants something that's just going to look downright badass, or if you're after one of the best built offerings it's going to offer almost 100% full face coverage. This is great if you're either always on the job site, farm, or doing some heavy duty off roading and you're in need of a guard that's going to not only look great but it's going to be better than any other guard out there that's currently available at this time. Looks and functionality aside here, guys, Westin's HDX is manufactured from a durable fully welded one piece design that's primarily made up of stainless steel tubing. The face of the grille itself has a very tough looking punch plate mesh grille design which is going to protect your grille as well as having two inch stainless steel side pieces for the wings that's going to be covered in a heavy duty rubber strip. It's worth mentioning with the HDX that you are going to be losing some protection for your headlights right here and right here. If you're overly concerned about that, Westin's Sportsman will have the bars right here and here but you're not going to get away with that center punch plate protection. In terms of the pricing, this premium option brush guard is going to tip the scales at around $900, but it is going to offer the most protection and coverage available. I'll throw it out there that there are other styles which can be picked up for less. Your main differences between one or the other are just going to be that they're not going to be as beefy as this one is in terms of the construction. Furthermore, they're not just going to have the same amount of coverage that this is going to provide. In terms of the installation, like I said earlier, you are going to be looking at an easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here despite its size. You need basic hand tools like a socket set and a torque wrench. Starting from underneath your truck, you're going to want to remove the factory air dam and then place it aside and then remove the factory tow hooks if they were equipped. You want to place one double nut plate where the factory nut plate is in order to mount the tow hooks again. You'll then take another stud plate and then simply insert that into the frame slot and then thread a plastic retainer onto the stud. Once you're done there, you can take the driver's side lower mounting bracket and place it through the rear of the bumper through the tow hook pocket. You can then align the driver's side mounting bracket with the previously installed double nut plate and stud plate, attach the lower mounting bracket plate to the double nut plate, and then you're good to go. If equipped with the tow hooks, you could then reinstall them and then attach the lower bracket to the stud plate. Once you're done there, you can move to the middle of the bumper and then locate the bumper stud. What you're going to want to do is remove that stud and then take the driver's side upper mounting bracket and place it in between the bumper and the metal tab behind the bumper. Once placed between the bumper and the metal tab, reinstall the factory bumper stud. Once you're done there, with a helping hand take the grille guard and then align it with the installed mounting brackets and attach the grille guard to the lower mounting brackets using the supplied hardware. Once you're done there, simply give your work a good once over, tighten down all your connections, and make sure everything's aligned.
