My name is Dion and I was fortunate enough to have been selected as a winner of one of AmericanTrucks.com’s contests. I had come across the website by way of a google search when I was looking for a V8 emblem for my Ford F-150 truck. The link took me to exactly what I was searching for. While I was filling in all the required information for my purchase, I noticed a banner ad showing a contest giveaway they were having. Being a person who doesn’t win these types of contests, I thought “What the heck,” and I entered it. I only needed to give an email address. No purchase was required, even though I was making a small purchase. I was hopeful that the karma would help. I received my emblem a few days later and placed it my tailgate. I was very pleased. I had even forgotten that I entered a contest when I made that purchase.
Approximately a month later, I saw a call come up with an unfamiliar number. I ignored it. A few days later another call. I let it go to voicemail. When I had time to listen to my messages, I heard a gentleman informing me I was selected as the winner of the sweepstakes. At first, I thought it was a scam. After delaying for over an hour or so I called the number back. A very polite fellow answered.
He was Jake Roberts and apparently was involved in the marketing/promotion division of the company. He asked where I’ve been. “I’ve been trying to get a hold of you. You have $5,000 to spend on your truck, plus additional for installation costs,” he told me. Needless to say, I was floored! I was quite surprised and in disbelief!
We discussed what further information was needed on my end, and I would be contacted when I was green-lighted to spend my winnings.
So, a few days later, while I was on vacation, an email came across saying the $5K was in my account on the website ready for me to use.
I still couldn’t believe it!”
I had only recently bought this truck and never thought of modifying it.
It took a while to decide on what products I wanted, but I settled on a few items to make it look a little more rugged without making it unusable for the street and my needs. I ordered a set of aggressive tires and rims, along with a set of mudflaps. I added some lights, as well as storage and utility items. A big item not yet installed is a winch. I need to have some custom work done to make it a hidden winch. I can’t be more pleased with my items. It totally transformed the appearance of my F-150.
The people at AmericanTrucks were a pleasure to deal with, especially since a first set of lights didn’t work out as planned. Everything was dealt with professionally and made right. What really got me was when they said my truck was going to have before and after pictures shown on their website! It was totally fun working with the photographers and seeing their craft from behind the scenes. It has been truly a unique and one of a kind experience for me. I learned that it can be worthwhile to take a chance on something fun! You never know when good karma might come your way. The AmericanTrucks group has helped me transform my F150 into one cool ride and make it more useful too!
Thanks to everyone!
Sincerely, Dion Ronio
