So, the Stainless Works 1-7/8 Catted Performance Headers that I'm talking about today are perfect if you own a '14 to '18 Silverado or Sierra with the 5.3 or the 6.2 motor and you wanna invest in a new exhaust system from engine to bumper that provides awesome sound and performance while keeping you street legal in most states, thanks to these bad boys right here. Now, I would personally recommend these larger diameter headers if you already have some bolt-on mods and you're already making more power over stock which I'll touch on shortly. But more importantly, these are gonna open up your exhaust with a really deep and lopey idle. And they're gonna offer the kind of sound that a bolt-on cat-back and a factory Y-pipe simply cannot muster. Now, installing headers like these is a rather involved job, guys. So, honestly, I'm gonna give this a solid three out of three wrenches on my old difficulty meter and I wager it'll take you an honest day's work with a buddy, maybe a six-pack to get both sides bolted up.Now, unlike shorty headers, long tubes do promise to add some power. So, let's talk about that first. Now the larger 7/8 diameter that these headers come with is again recommended if you're considering forced induction later on or if your truck has at least minor bolt-ons like I already said and that's simply because a bone stock truck might actually lose some low-end throttle response with a larger diameter setup like this. Now, if you want Stainless Works long tubes for the sound but you want to keep your truck stock otherwise, then I'd recommend it looking at the 3/4-inch version of these headers just so you keep some of that low-end performance in check. Now, next up is the performance versus the factory connect option. And this performance connect kit features a really badass new X-pipe and it ditches that factory exhaust system entirely. So, these headers are for you if you want to also spring for a new custom cat-back. Now, if that doesn't sound like you, again, be sure to check out the factory connect version instead. And lastly, the high flow cats on this system will allow you to skate by on most emissions testing in most states, save for some of those more scrutinize locales like California, and that's only because their testing is so strict. Now otherwise, you're probably good to daily your truck without worrying about that inspection sticker if you opt for these headers. And on the note of emissions, Stainless Works is nice enough to throw in some new O2 extensions so you don't need to get squirrely or crazy with wiring up anything or adding in your own extensions. Now, obviously, build quality is on point too, that's no surprise coming from Stainless Works. We see really nice clean welds throughout, you got laser cut flanges for the heads, really smooth primaries, and collectors and very cleanly bent-tubing throughout. And everything is made from 304 stainless, pretty much the best steel you can buy. Now the X-pipe is also fabbed up pretty nicely and it'll definitely provide that really raspy growl at redline that a factory H-pipe simply cannot afford. And I'm talking about the install, getting headers on like these has something of a stigma or a reputation behind it and Stainless Works does an excellent job of making sure that these things fit up pretty much perfectly so there's no need for hammering or excessively bloody knuckles. Now, you'll still need the whole toolbox for this one, guys, And again, breaking the studs loose on your manifolds means that this gets a solid three out of three wrenches on my difficulty meter. I would honestly only tackle this if you have some experience turning wrenches or if you enjoy a small challenge, you want the pride of saying you did it yourself. Now with that said, you thankfully don't have to pull your motor mounts or permanently modify anything. So, the toughest part will be getting those studs loose, just be sure to have some heat and maybe some PB B'laster handy. And it's very helpful to have some swivel sockets and a breaker bar to get things started. Now, obviously, it goes without saying that yes, the Stainless Works kit I'm talking about today is a little pricey coming in just south of the $2,000 price point but you are definitely getting what you pay for based on everything I've talked about today. And that just about wraps up my review of the Stainless Works 1-7/8-inch Catted Performance Connect Headers. Keep it right here at americantrucks.com.

      Highly Recommend!

Very high quality welds, high quality hardware, great sound and noticeable power increase. Install went smoothly, had a minor issue with 3 of the 02 sensors not wanting to thread in. Had to ream out the hole because the fittings weren’t centered over the hole. Also noticed a lot of metal shavings still in the pipes, little air compressor clear out did the trick. Power definitely picked up higher RPMS. Paired the X pipe with twin Borla XR-1s. Those brought back a lot of lower RPM power. Not to mention my truck sounds perfect now, no clapping just a deep rumble and the perfect shift sounds.

      It doesn’t get any better

This exhaust setup is among the best there is. High quality materials met with expert craftsmanship leaves you with an amazing exhaust setup. This kit paired with my cammed l83 running Stainless Works long tube headers & x-pipe is what wetdreams are made of. The exhaust note is unreal & unlike any other ls/lt based truck setup I’ve heard. You get what you pay for, and this setup is Worth It!

      American Made

Top quality material and labor (welds) look good however am disappointed in a swage just after the socket flange that necks the i.d. to 2-1/2 inch. This and the socket flange doesn’t mate well with the ball, neither to the stock y-pipe nor the Texas Speed and Performance catted y-pipe. A little hammer tuning snugged it right up. Also, while being superbly built the mufflers are NOT for the bashful! They gleefully “blat” and roar when you nail it. Idle is pleasant but course; while cruising at 1700 rpm the system is rockin’! Loud but still able to hold conversation but don’t forget to turn the stereo down when you get parked! Fit is EXCELLENT with the hangers placed accurately and the band clamps are quality pieces. I did have to take 10” off each of the intermediate tubes to fit the mufflers correctly (LTZ crew cab shorter bed) and all bends are good. This system weighs 75 lbs. but is easily handled. Also in the package were a nice can coozy and a wicked kool stainless bottle opener and groovy stickers of various design. GOOD STUFF!

      Not Great Not bolt up

Metal is SST but thin. This is not direct fit for my truck. Requires different flange and different hangars. You would not be happy if you cut your stock exhaust off in your driveway only to find this doesn't fit adequately toiches the Spare tire and touches or is too close to various contact points. Sound louder than wanted and droning.

      Awesome Sound

I love this mod. It installed smoothly and has a great growl, but not annoying while doing highway miles. For the cost, I wish I would have done a muffler delete (way less expensive and louder) but I'm still very happy. Great product.

      Dual Exhaust

Quality was good. I had a muffler shop install, they welded all connections. It came in a lot of pieces with clamps. Sound is good. Cruising speed it's quiet, get on it and the thunder is there. Never mind that guy who took his off cause of the "droning sound" That's BS as far as my install. I recommend the pro install with welding, do it right.

Nice sound good quality just wish was a little more aggressive

Installed on a 2020 Silverado 5.3 has a nice deep sound. Cold start is aggressive but once it warms up idle is mid range would have like something a little more aggressive has good sound under throttle very little sound at cruise but its more than stock. This kit has a very good sound just wish it had more. Everyone who hears it likes the sound. I would say for most people this kit would be all you need but if your looking for very aggressive you might want something else still and very nice kit

      The only cat back

This is the only cat back I would consider. Heard it in real life on the ground and knew immediately this was what my 6.2l Trail Boss should sound like. Not looking for much in performance gain, any will be a bonus. If I am paying for V8 gas mileage, I want to hear it burning. This is the right way to do that!! And made here in Ohio (USA)!

2013 silverado extended cab standard box

Just received kit and installed, basic hand tools were needed to install, (once got old exhaust off ) except for a sawzall , Fit was spot on. ( Had to cut 9.5 inches off muffler inlet pipes) . Has nice mellow rumble at idle but when get on throttle it gets louder n comes alive ... very pleased with purchase.
