Hey, guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com, and today, we're taking a closer look at listening to and, of course, installing the Dual Exhaust with Black Tips with the Split Side Exit available for the '14 to '18 Silverado 1500. You should be checking this out for your own Silverado if you're looking for an exhaust that's perfect for the daily driver who's looking for a slightly more aggressive sound with a lot deeper of a tone without going too overwhelming with some of the loudest options in the category. As you just heard from our sound clips, I'm giving this guy two out of five on our loudness meter. And I gotta say, I was between two out of five and three out of five because it's right there on the cusp. But two out of five on our loudness meter gives this guy slightly louder than the factory exhaust. It's definitely noticeable especially at higher RPMs but it's a lot deeper which is worth noting. Now, the factory exhaust really isn't giving you that V8 sound that you want from your 5.3 Silverado, and with this exhaust here, you could definitely beef up the aggressiveness. Now, inside the cabin, it almost sounds stuck, you can listen to the radio and have an easy conversation and have your baby in the backseat without disturbing them at all. It doesn't really sound like much of anything inside the truck. Outside the truck, from red light to red light, you get a deep gargle, definitely a little bit throatier than factory, but it's still gonna stay pretty tamed. Now, the entire kit here is 304 mandrel-bent stainless steel, 304 being the highest quality materials in the category compared to 409 stainless which is that middle of the road and aluminized which is definitely the cheapest, most affordable option. The 304 here is gonna last a lot longer, it's corrosion and rust-resistant more so than other ones. Definitely good for the guys out there seeing a lot of road salt in the wintery months like we are here on the east coast. Now, this system uses a 3-inch diameter for the inlet and it drops down to a dual 2.5-inch diameter tubing for the outlet, splitting off for your side exits. Now, obviously, the factory exhaust is a single side exit dumping up behind the passenger side tire, still happens here with this exhaust but it's duplicated over here, and we'll take a closer look at them side by side later on on the ground. As for the tips, this guy uses a black 4-inch slash-cut dual exit tip. Now, this black tip is definitely a lot stealthier than some of the other ones out there. It's not glossy whatsoever, so it's super stealthy, but polished options are available in the category for a more traditional look. Now, for the price of this exhaust, we're talking around 500 bucks making it a pretty affordable option in the category. There are some really high-end brand names out there like Corsa and Borla that run a little bit more expensive than this. This gives you a solid 304 stainless with a high-quality construction while bringing the price down to something a little more affordable. The install for this gets two out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter simply because it is a little bit more work than say a cold air intake for example, but still doesn't require any cutting, drilling, or modifications, it is a direct bolt-on.You'll have to install a separate hanger on the driver side simply because your factory exhaust wasn't a dual, but it's all included in the kit and I'll walk you through every step of the process here. It's obviously a lot easier with a lift like we have here, but it is doable on the ground, it just might take a little bit longer. We'll call it two to three hours from start to finish with pretty simple hand tools. I'll show you every step, let's get to it. All right, tools to use for this install include an impact gun or a ratchet, 10, 13, and 15-millimeter deep sockets, recommended would be a universal swivel joint, 10 and 15-millimeter wrenches and a hanger removal tool. All right, first step here, you wanna grab a 13-millimeter socket, we're gonna loosen up the clamp right in front of or behind rather the catalytic converter. So, that'll loosen this up and then the rest of them are just hangers holding on to the exhaust. Moving about a foot toward the rear, you'll find another hanger here, this is holding onto the frame. I'm gonna use my hanger removal tool which I highly recommend using, a pry bar could work as well. All right, for the next step, we have two hangers right behind our factory muffler right over our rear diff. Now, I have a pole jack supporting the exhaust system at this point because once we have these off, it gets pretty loose because we're up here on the lift. Grab a hanger removal tool and pop these two off.All right, there's one last hanger here, it's up by the exhaust tip right next to the spare tire carrier. Now, once this guy is loose or disconnected, the entire exhaust is disconnected. So, you wanna make sure you have something like a pole jack supporting it or a helping hand to give you a hand here. All right, at this point, remove your exhaust and set it aside all in one piece. All right, so we got our factory exhaust off of our '16 5.3 and it's on the ground here next to our dual exhaust from Rough Country. Now, I wanna take you through some similarities and differences between the two kits, and I wanna start up front here. Now, your factory exhaust has that flex pipe here leading into a 2.5-inch pipe that hits your muffler.Your new pipe from Rough Country here does not have the flex pipe, it does have a flange adapter going to a 3-inch mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel exhaust pipe that also has your factory hanger location so that still works moving in to a new muffler. Now, as you can see, there is a sizable difference in the muffler here. Your factory muffler has a lot of baffling, it's really minimizing a lot of the aggressive sound that you want out of your V8 whereas this new RC muffler here has minimal baffling to make sure it gives you a nice aggressive tone, while it's still not giving you a droney interior sound that gets really annoying, that muffler there produces a quality tone. Now, the muffler drops down to a dual of 2.5-inch outlet. Instead of your factory muffler having that single outlet that dumps behind the passenger side rear tire, your new exhaust has a dual outlet stepping down the 2.5-inch pipes that go over the rear axle, swivel around your factory spare tire carrier and then hits you with the dual outlet. That dual exit here is gonna dump out the passenger side of your tire as well but duplicate that on the driver side for the dual split. Now, the tips there are dual black powder-coated tips with a 4-inch slash-cut outlet. Now, those tips look a lot better than your factory exhaust which pretty much didn't have any tip at all, it was just a slash-cut piece of metal. So, this goes a long way for appearance and the black tips give it that stealthy finish. Chrome tips are available as well if you're looking for a more traditional look, but personally, I like to look at those black tips and, of course, it's got the RC logo embedded right on top there. But for the passenger side, since it didn't come with a passenger-side exhaust, we have to install a hanger bracket there by the tip, I'll go to show you how to do once we get to it, but for now, let's start with the install up at the front. First step of the install is grab the flange pipe included in the kit and we're gonna slide that guy on to the stock catalytic converter pipe using the factory 13-millimeter bolt clamp. You wanna make sure that that is evenly on both parts of the flange and you wanna try to get your new pipe as straight as can be. Now, we're gonna grab our 13 socket and tighten down this clamp. All right, next step, grab your extension pipe that'll go into the hanger on the side of the frame there, grab one of the 3-inch clamps and insert it over the flange adapter pipe that we just installed. All right, from here, install the pipe making sure the hanger goes in that isolator. All right, from there, you can tighten down this clamp and you might need a swivel socket just because it's right over the subframe there. So, grab your socket and tighten that down. All right, so I've got my swivel joint on my 15 socket. I'm gonna tighten down that clamp. Next step, grab your muffler and install a 3-inch clamp on the inlet side and then install it under the pipe we just put up on the truck. Next is your over axle pipe for your passenger side, feed that over the axle. Make sure you have one of the smaller clamps installed on the inlet side and install that onto the muffler while also paying attention to the hangers you're gonna install overtop of the axle. All right, so once you have that in position, you wanna tighten down that clamp. All right, let's just finish off that passenger side here. We're gonna install the elbow that'll lead over to our tip. Make sure you have a clamp on the end there as well. You wanna make sure it's angled so it's not gonna be facing inside the bumper, just below it. All right, we're gonna finish off the driver side here with our tip. Slide that guy in place, make sure it's positioned properly with the RC logo directly at the top so it's not off-angle. Grab a 10-millimeter socket and 10-millimeter wrench and tighten that down. The clamp is built in. Make sure that that's tight, try to rotate it, if it doesn't move, let's move on to the driver's side. All right, next step, we're gonna do our driver side over axle pipe again with the hanger. You wanna make sure you swivel that around your spare tire carrier. All right, next up, we have to install our new hanger bracket onto the frame. So, if you look at the driver side frame next to the spare tire carrier, you'll see a large open circle. Now, next to that is a little bit of an oval circle and there you're gonna install our hanger bracket, bolt plate, and your nut assembly through the back. Now, that's gonna install just like this. Now, inside it's tough to see, but you're gonna put the square plate bracket over the stud. Follow that up with a flat washer, split washer, and your nut and then we'll tighten it down. All right, once you have that installed by hand, you can grab your socket and your wrench and tighten them down. Let me use my 15 socket on the bolt head and my 15 wrench on the nut through a hole in the bottom of the frame here. All right, so now you can grab your red isolator and slide that onto the hanger. All right, next step is a little bit of a tight squeeze but we're gonna grab our hanger pipe here that's gonna go right around the spare tire. Make sure there's a clamp on the end go into the pipe, slide that in place, and then you're gonna sort of rotate it so that it fits into that isolator. There you go. All right, tighten down your clamp with your 15 socket. All right, next up, you're gonna put your pipe on here, that'll attach the tip. And again, just make sure it's not aiming upward into the bumper, but below it. All right, tighten that clamp down. All right, last step, we're gonna install the driver side tip, and again, it's got that clamp built-in. So, just grab your 10 socket and a wrench and tighten it down. Just make sure it's aligned properly first. All right, go back and make sure all your clamps are tight and everything's positioned properly and you're good to go. That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the Dual Exhaust with Black Tips available with the split side exit for your '14 to '18 Silverado 1500. Pick yours up right here at americantrucks.com.

Easy install
Absolutely love this exhaust. Was a little hesitant about ordering it considering I wasn’t sure how it would sound. It was very easy to install and has a great sound but is not obnoxiously loud.

Outstanding
Not too loud, but you know it’s there. Took about 2 hours on a lift. I bought a new coupler because Michigan likes rust. Overall very satisfied. All Welds, bends and hangars lined up perfectly.

Dual exhaust intall
Received the product as promised, this by no means a cheap product, all the parts where there and the instructions were quite simple, it took about a little more time than usual because I had to do the install on the ground, I am satisfied with the system, I had a lot of complements on how good it sounds, definitely would recommend this product

I love the sound!
2-3 hour install.... It took me 1.5 hours. If you tow a camp trailer, BE ready fer a noisy ride on any hill. I live at the base of the coast range in Oregon, and we climb up over the coast range to get to our camp site. No load, and stand on it it sounds great. Cruising on the roads it is quiet in the cab. It still new to me. this is my honest review. This site for reviews!

V8 has a voice.
.Gives my truck a voice, the days of the great American V8 are waning, wanted others to know I have one. Great addition to my Silverado. Very pleased with.

Perfect sound
I took it to a muffler shop and they said it was the easiest system to install and took them no time to do. It has the perfect sound going thru the gears and highway sound is great. I can still listen to my radio without it being loud. I will be buying it again when needed.

Perfect for every day
Exhaust looks great compared to stock. Huge improvement aesthetically. It’s loud enough to tell it’s there but not too loud. Truck definitely breathes better. Perfect for daily driving. 4 stars because the labeling in the directions could have been improved which would’ve saved me a little time

Easy to install
This was easy to install without a hoist. I backed into my driveway and went at it. I was in no hurry, it took about 3 hours. It could have went quicker but like I said I was in no hurry. The only thing negative about this was the exhaust clamps that came with the kit. I couldnt tighten mine up enough keep the pipes from moving. I went to the auto store and bought muffler clamps. That fixed the problem.
