Jake: Hey, everyone. Jake here for American Trucks, and in this video, we're taking a look at the Rough Country Defender Fender Flares, in a Flat Black, fitting 2019 and newer Silverado 1500s, excluding ZR2 models. If you're looking to add some unique style to your Silverado, look no further. Rough Country's Defender flares have a look all their own. They feature easy installation, solid construction, and a good price to boot.Styling is, of course, subjective. As they always say, beauty is in the eye of the beholders. But there can be no argument made that these flares do not have a unique style to them. They have these indents throughout the flare itself, and they combine with those faux rivets at the leading edge, to make for a pretty tough appearance. They're a nice way to set your truck apart from the crowd. The flat black finish here helps as well. Especially if you've got other black accents or trim on your truck, these are gonna look right at home. That flat black also makes them a bit more aggressive, though we do offer pre-painted options of these same fenders on our site, should that be more your speed. But these go beyond just looking good, as they offer a bit more protection for the sides of your truck. The extra width they're gonna provide, especially if you have bigger wheels and tires on your truck, will help keep dirt and debris from hitting the paint on your fenders, and damaging it. These actually give you about 2 inches of additional width. You can see how big they are. And though that might not sound like a whole lot, it can really make a difference visually, and it makes the truck a lot more beefy and menacing-looking.Made from a unique ABS plastic material, these are lightweight and sturdy. They come finished exactly as you see them right here, ready to mount right out of the box. And they also feature a UV coating, to protect against fading, so they're gonna wear very well, and they should look good for a long time to come. These also feature a no-drill installation, making that part easy as well, but we'll talk more about that in a few moments.First, let's talk price. Coming in at about $350 for the kit, the defenders represent a pretty good value for your money. They're made from quality materials, and they provide you with good looks and extra protection, so they're a great overall package for a pretty reasonable cost.Installation gets a 1 out of 3 on our difficulty meter, and should take you about two hours to complete. Now, these are gonna come with everything you need, including all the clips and weather stripping you'll need to get them installed. And they have the additional pieces that you're gonna need for the front fenders. Now, there's a couple different ones included in the kit. We've got this one, which is for '19 to '21 trucks, and you've got a different one for '22 and up trucks. Obviously, I don't have everything here on the table with me. This is just an example of a front and rear, but again, everything you need comes included in the kit. And these don't require you to drill into your truck, meaning that you'll avoid rust issues, and you can return it to completely stock whenever you want. All that said, let's head on out to the shop, and we'll walk you through the process.Man: For this install, you will need an impact, a ratchet, T15 and T45 Torx bits, a 13-millimeter wrench, a Phillips head screwdriver, some angle cutters, a grease pencil, and also, not shown here, is a box knife or a razor knife. What's up, guys? Today we're gonna be doing some fender flares on our Silverado, so let's get started. So, we're gonna start things off by having our flares up on our table. We need to do some prep work before we get them onto the truck, and we're gonna start by installing our front flare extension to our main portion of our front flare. Now, these are from '19 to '25, so you will have a designated extension for '19 to '21, like ours is, a '19, or '22 and up. So, just pick your proper one, and we'll get this installed. These have two mounting holes on each side of the extension and main portion of the flare. We're gonna grab two of our quick clips and two of our Phillips head screws, the number eight ones, to get these mounted. So, we'll take our quick clips, get those on one side, and we'll send our Phillips head screw through our mounting holes. We'll get that lined up. We'll get both of these started. We'll get our Phillips head screwdriver and tighten these down. And you want these to line up before you fully tighten them. This second one can be a little bit tricky. You could even come in from the other side if you can't get it.So, next step is gonna be to install our beauty screws. Now, you have supplied T45 Torx head screws, and have flat washers. They're gonna go into the upper mounting points. We'll get one in. And on the backside, you can install your lock nut. We'll get all these started. There's gonna be eight total around the whole flare. Then we'll get our flat washer onto our screw. And drop that in. And we'll get our lock nut on the backside. Then we can do the same thing for the rest of our screws. Now we'll tighten these down with our T45 Torx bit and our 13-millimeter wrench. Then you can do the same thing for the rest. Now, once we have all of our screws in, we need to install our weatherstripping around the upper edge of our flares. Now, since this one has an extension, we'll measure out our shorter part first. We're just gonna line this up from the bottom, bring it around, get that close, and we'll grab some angle cutters, cut that down to size. Next, we can peel back some of the adhesive cover on our weatherstrip. You want that adhesive to go on the inside of your flare. We'll do this in small sections, so, we'll get this first part seated. Pull back some more of our cover. It's gonna sit right over that lip on the edge of our flare. This is gonna butt up flush with the body of our truck. And make sure this whole part is seated. Then we can do the same thing for the rest of our flare. So, before we can install our flare onto the truck, there's a few things we need to do to the truck itself, one of which is coming to this inner vent, and we're gonna need to cut out the bottom center lip of the vent. You wanna go about 3/8 of an eighth inch in, or flush with your fender liner. Again, it's gonna be the second one up from the bottom that we're gonna trim that edge back. So, we've got a razor knife. We're gonna reach in and score this. We'll go back and do it again. Now we can also cut the edges off at the lips. We'll see if that starts to move at our score. Which it is. So, now we can see it on the other side, so we'll come back and score it again. We'll get that edge cut out.So, next, we're gonna get ready to mount our upper bracket. And to do that, we're gonna need to remove the two upper T15 Torx screws at the top of your fender liner, right here. So, we'll grab our T15 Torx bit on our ratchet and pull these out. This is hard to see, but if you feel under here, you will feel the tabs and these screws themselves. And we'll remove our other one as well. So, now we've got our upper mounting bracket. Now, this is labeled with an LH, for left-hand side. That would be your driver side. We've got two U-clips. We're gonna go into our outer mounting points. You want the threaded catch to be facing the inside of the bracket. Pop that in. This one as well. Make sure those seat fully, and line up with your mounting holes. And we'll get this in place, and we're gonna reuse those T15 Torx screws to mount this up into our fender well. So, we'll get our first T15 screw through. We'll feel out our mounting hole. Get that lined up. We'll again come back with our T15 Torx bit, and tighten this down. And we'll do the same thing for our other screw. Our next step is gonna be to remove our mud flap. So, you should have three T15 Torx screws up top, as well as a 10-millimeter bolt down bottom. Now, ours has been lost to time. We have another T15 screw in there, but you should have that, so you will need a 10-mill socket, as well as your T15 Torx bit. So, we'll pop these off right now. Now we need to remove the three T15 Torx screws located right behind our vent that we trimmed down earlier. And we'll grab our T15 Torx bit, pop these off. Now, you wanna hang on to your hardware, because these are gonna be reused in the mounting process. Now we can grab our forward mounting bracket. And just like with the top one, we're gonna grab two of our U-clips, and pop those into place. All right. And once we have our clips on, we'll use our factory hardware to get this mounted up. We'll grab our T15 Torx screws, and we'll start with the top one. Get that right back in its original mounting spot. Gonna get our top one started, followed by our lower mounting screws. Now we can install our flare, and we're gonna start by getting one of our provided Phillips head screws into our forward mount. Then we're going to reinstall our T15 Torx screws that we took out of our mud flap. Get this lined up. Get our Phillips head screw in place. Now that that one's on, that'll hold this secure, and we can move on to the back. Now we'll get our rear screw started. Now, this one clip likes to fall down sometimes. [inaudible 00:12:55] put that back up like so. Get our T15 Torx bit back out. You may have to pull up on your flare a little bit, to get it to line up. Make sure that clip doesn't move. Now, you may have to apply some pressure to get this second one to line up. Now we can get our remaining three Phillips head screws into our mounting point. Remember, we still have one for the forward mount, and both of our top mounts. Now, again, this is pretty hard to see, because it's dark and kind of tucked up in the fender well, but you'll need your Phillips head screwdriver, and three more of your number 10 Phillips head screws. So, the prep process for your rear flares is gonna be exactly the same, as far as the weather stripping and beauty screws, minus the front extension. So, we'll go ahead and get that done, and then we'll get ready to install our rear flare. So, for our rear flares, we're gonna need to remove one screw out of our rear trim. So we'll grab our T15 Torx bit, remove that. Now, you do wanna save this because, again, these are gonna be reused for mounting purposes. Next, we can remove our front mud guard. So, now we'll remove our three T15 Torx screws out of our mud flap. So, now we can grab our flare itself, and you're gonna need a grease pencil or a marker. We're gonna mock this up. So, we're gonna line it up. Then we're gonna mark our holes. These, this rear side one, and these two upper ones for our mounting tab locations, we need to add in, so we'll grab a grease pencil. Again, this is hard to see. You just need to mark out the holes on the body. Next, we'll grab three of our foam tabs, and we'll remove the cover off the adhesive backing. We're gonna center these up with those marks we just made. Like so. We'll wrap that around the edge of our fender. We'll do the same thing for the other two marks. Now we can grab three of our longer U-clips. And again, you want the threaded pitch to be facing the inside of your truck. We'll get those over those foam tabs we just installed. Like so. Now we can install our flare. We're gonna start with our T15 factory hardware that we took out of the rear and the front. So, we'll get this lined up. Get our first screw in place. We'll tighten that down with our T15 Torx bit. That'll help hold it steady. Now we'll get our second screw in. Now we'll get our rear T15 screw in place. So, we'll line this up. Now we'll need three of our number 10 Phillips screws. We'll get those in place where we put our mounting tabs. Now, for these upper ones, you may need to apply some force in on your flare. And we'll get our other front one in. And these ones are pretty hard to see, because they're up under our body. Now, once you have this flare on, you can repeat this same process for the other side.Jake: That's gonna wrap it up here for our review and install of the Rough Country Defender Fender Flares, in Flat Black, fitting 2019 and newer Silverado 1500s, excluding ZR2 models. Rough Country Tonneau Tri-Fold Cover Review
The installation was straight forward and took a little over an hour. The cover leaks a little water into the bed, but I haven't heard of any folding covers that don't leak a little. The amount of water that gets in the bed is minimum and I would transport luggage without worrying about anything getting ruined. It seems well built and locks securely. You can't open the bed with the remote with the cover closed and locked, but I had already read about that in other review. Overall, I am happy with the look and fit and finish of the Rough Country tonneau cover.

Review shared from Rough Country Hard Low Profile Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover (19-25 Silverado 1500 w/ 5.80-Foot Short Box & w/o CarbonPro Box)
Better protection for your belongings
I had a soft roll up that leaked so bad that anything in the bed would get soaked, and forget about taking it through a brushless car wash. This cover is water tight and has great protection for you golf clubs, camping gear, etc. And you can't break into it with a pocket knife. Install was very easy to do with just one person. I will never fo back to a soft top. Great product.

Review shared from Rough Country Bull Bar; Black (19-25 Silverado 1500, Excluding Diesel & ZR2)
Great Look, Great Price, Great Place to Hang Your Lights!
I have a '24 Custom, so Chevy was stingy with fog lamps, I wanted to add my own but needed a place to hang them without going "full face mask". This bull bar is priced right and looks great, super solid so no shaky light syndrome out on the road. Shop around but you'll see, for the money, this bar comes out on top. No "BULL".

Review shared from Rough Country Sport Fender Flares; Flat Black (19-25 Silverado 1500, Excluding ZR2)
The fit is perfect
These look great and the fit to the body is just about perfect but allow plenty of time and take your time, the result will be worth it. Installing the seals on these flares and getting them just right is the key to a good install. I noticed that the seals were much more difficult to install on the rear flares. Seems the thickness of the rear flares are almost too much for the seals and this took quite some time to get them on. Clean the back of the flares with alcohol before applying the seals and only remove a couple inches of the tape at a time. The fronts went on nicely with the brackets but on the rear I had to install 3 metal clips, which worked out ok but if these clips were a little wider they would fit tighter. Overall though if you take your time, get the seals on correctly the outcome looks great.

For the cost low cost and amount of work it is to put these on... you get big bang for the buck. It's one of those what did you do to your truck mods...
