Note: Any combination of deep well or standard sockets or wrench should work. I recommend a 10 mm deep well socket, 10 mm wrench, and 13 mm deep well socket. The deep well sockets will allow clearance around the mounting brackets. I also recommend a magnetic bowl to hold the hardware under the truck during mounting to minimize having to crawl from under the truck while mounting. 8 mm nuts use a 13 mm socket. 6 mm nuts use a 10 mm socket.
Installation Instructions:
1. Locate the factory step mounting locations under the truck and along the inner body. On each side of the truck, two (2) are located under the front door and one (1) is located under the rear door. There are three (3) mounting locations on each side of the truck. Each mounting location consists of 3 8-1.25mm studs.
2. Place a plastic washer on each of the mounting studs, nine (9) total on each side. Plastic washers are used to prevent corrosion between the aluminum truck body and steel mounting bracket.
3. Mounting brackets are universal for all six (6) locations. Place a mounting bracket on the mounting studs. Only 3 holes on each mounting bracket will be used. Place an 8 mm flat washer on each mounting stud and secure with an 8-1.25 mm nylon lock nut. Do not tighten the nuts all the way to allow for alignment adjustments when mounting the running boards. Repeat this for the remaining five (5) mounting brackets.
4. Place the running board on top of the brackets. Adjust the running board for proper alignment forward and rear. From under the running board place the 6 mm double bolt plats into the running boards channel just behind the mounting bracket. Carefully lift the running board while sliding the double bolt plat forward to align with the mounting bracket. Repeat this for the remaining brackets on each side. Do not secure the double bolt plates until all three are placed into the mounting bracket.
5. One each side secure all 3 double bolt plates with two 6 mm flat washer, two 6 mm lock washer, and two 6 mm hex nut.
6. Make final adjustments to the alignment and location of the running boards. Once you are satisfied with the alignment fully tighten all hardware. Mounting brackets with 8 mm bolts are torqued to 18 ft-lbs and the double bolt plates are torqued to 8 ft-lbs.
7. Periodically inspect the hardware to ensure the running boards and brackets remain secured.
