Review shared from Motive Gear 8.25-Inch Front and 8.50-Inch Rear Axle Complete Ring and Pinion Gear Kit; 4.30 Gear Ratio (09-14 Silverado 1500)
2011 Chevy Silverado
The gears are great. Went from 13-15 mpg with a 7in lift of 35s to 18mpg average about everywhere. I do drive with a light foot but these gears have no problem getting to road speed either. With the 6l80 my rpm’s are back to stock or a little higher but it’s healthy and stays in 6th gear longer. The break-in period and 500 mile inspection is very important however, the internet truck forums kind of bash on motive 4.30s for “gear whine” but if you read deeper into them they’re not allowing a complete break-in. The gear whining comes from improper break in, improper install or a combination of the 2. I had a shop do the install because I simply didn’t have time to finish what I started due to an Army move but they did great and would recommend them to anyone.
