Higher numerical gear ratios are suited for performance applications requiring greater low-end torque such as towing and hauling. With a 4.30 ratio, driving on steep hills and rocky terrain is easier and safer.

      Motive-Tested Gears. Each Motive Rear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit has been through rigorous testing and strict quality control. Gears are forged from high-grade 8620 triple alloy steel that features a stronger core compared to your stock gears. The ring and pinion gear set are refined through state-of-the-art machining to meet OEM specifications and prevent fitment issues. With a precise fit, optimal clearances and backlash are achieved for best performance.

      Recalibration Required. If you change your gear ratio, don’t forget to recalibrate your truck’s computer. Speedometer readings are affected by any change in the RPM so make sure you use a tuner or calibration device after new gears are installed.

      Auto Shop Installation. Leave the installation of your Motive 8.5 in. & 8.6 in. Rear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit to your trusted mechanic. Modification on your differential assembly is an intricate process requiring special equipment and tools. It’s important to have an experienced mechanic do the installation to prevent damages to your drivetrain components.

      1-Year/50,000-Mile Warranty. Motive warrants the Motive 8.5 in. & 8.6 in. Rear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit to be free from factory defects including material and workmanship issues for up to 1 year or 50,000 miles of use. Exclusions such as incidental damages may apply so please visit the manufacturer website to learn all the details of their warranty.

      Technical Note. Chevy Silverado 4WD models should have close to matching front and rear gear ratios. Engaging 4WD with differing gear ratios will cause severe damages on your drive train components.
