Unrestricted Intake for Better Power. The K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake uses a massive conical air filter and an aerodynamically streamlined tube to draw many additional cubic feet of air into your 1997-2003 F-150’s 4.6L engine. Built to keep engine heat at arm’s length with a thoroughly sealed heat shield, this component cranks up the throttle response, fuel efficiency, and overall performance of your truck’s engine with a minimum of changes. Getting your pickup engine breathing more freely results in measurable power gains, too – up to +9.7 horsepower and +11.44 ft-lbs of torque.
Tune-Free Operation. The stock tune on your F-150’s engine computer or ECU (electronic control unit) is fully adequate to running the K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake. There is no need to flash the engine with an aftermarket tune after installing this component.
Tough Filter that Can Be Reused. Measuring a colossal 9” high, the filter element in the K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake is chrome topped and made from oiled cotton gauze. Twin aluminum, epoxy-coated screens are sandwiched into the layers for improved toughness. The filter is completely washable and reusable – the first cleaning is usually needed at 100,000 miles, and the element can be cleaned, re-oiled, and reused many times thereafter.
High Quality Construction in the USA. Made in America, the K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake features a powder-coated steel air box finished in textured black. The edges of this box are fully surrounded by EPDM foam sealing strips to ensure that the fit is snug and engine heat is excluded from the filter. The intake tube is made for maximum flow, with unrestricted mandrel bends. Making it immune to rust and most corrosion, the tube is fabricated from aluminum and given a high, attractive polish.
Accepts the Factory MAF. The K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake is made to have the stock MAF swapped over directly from the OE intake, and therefore has a MAF housing designed to fit that component. It also features attachments for the EVAP vent hose and crankcase vent hose.
Attaches with Simple Tools. Using regular hand tools, the K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake attaches to your F-150’s engine in under 90 minutes. This is a no-drill installation that needs no cutting or modifications, and uses the hardware included with the kit.
Million Mile Warranty. A standard 1 million mile warranty from the manufacturer covers the K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake.
CARB Executive Order for CA Legality. The K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake is CARB certified, meaning that it meets all the emissions standards set down in the famously stringent California regulations. This makes it legal for installation and street use throughout all 50 states of the USA. The associated CARB EO Number is #D-269-37.
Application. This K&N Series 77 High Flow Performance Cold Air Intake is specially designed to fit the 1997-2003 F-150s equipped with the 4.6L V8 engine.
Technical Note. The K&N Cold Air Intake is not designed for vehicles equipped with a Body Lift.

Well constructed upgrade for 99 F150 XLT
I am very happy with the finished product now that I have this item installed on my 1999 Ford F-150 XLT. The increased airflow has definitely improved my truck's overall performance, and I love the sound it creates that is missing with the stock F-150 Intake system. But I was the first to turn over my breather cap on my 1967 Mustang when I was much younger in the seventies, and I have missed that V8 sound since they changed the systems. The quality of the K&N CAI systems is legendary, and this has been on my mod list for several years. The quality is superior, and you will not be disappointed. This does come with instructions. However, the images are small, and my wife and I are not mechanical, so it presented a challenge for us to install. It took us the better part of a day to put this all together. We could not find a YouTube video showing this model from K&N, but in the end, we followed the instructions and got the job done with no missing parts or problems. We could probably now do the same job with the same parts on the same year and model truck in an hour. Our youngest son is a senior diesel mechanic for a heavy equipment company in Nashville, TN, and our oldest son has owned his own automotive repair shop since retiring from the Army, so we also sent them pictures and asked for their helpful guidance. In hindsight, there was a $125 professional installation option, and it may have been a decent investment option. But overall, we enjoyed the challenge and now can look at the installation with some pride. Would I recommend this CAI system? Absolutely, and I am glad we purchased it. Once we tackle the new BBK Throttle Body install and put an Optional Tune on the truck, it will be the beast it was designed to be, like my 1970 Ford F-250 Highboy.

Review shared from K&N Drop-In Replacement Air Filter (97-08 4.2L, 4.6L F-150; 97-03 5.4L F-150)
Replacement air filter
K&N filters are #1 in quality you get what you pay for. Old filter was trashed had to be replaced. K&N was a no Brainer. With an increase in air flow over stock filter, engine runs smoother with a slight power boost. Fuel mpg also had a positive result.

Good product
Noticed improved acceleration and some fuel savings. Instructions could have been a little more explicit on which hardware to use. But overall satisfying with it

Intake replacement
Just installed on my 98 F-150. The only issue was the temperature sensor hole was to big for the sensor. I installed a rubber grommet in the hole so sensor would be snug with no air leaks. Total install time was about 1.5 hours due to the sensor.

Review shared from K&N Series 57 FIPK Cold Air Intake with Heat Shield (97-03 5.4L F-150)
All around great
Everything in the box was amazing quality parts and I can definitely tell a difference in the power of this old truck. It also made it a lot louder, even with a stock exhaust just the new intake makes it sound like a muscle car.

Intake
Very easy to install with basic tools only problem I encountered was a missing hose size but it was a cheap $1.39 fix at local parts store I have noticed better throttle when not in overdrive especially don't see much in fuel economy but its new so we'll see
