Overall, I do love the look and function of these step bars. But the install cost a star easily. First, rivnuts suck if you don't have the expensive tool. GEM supplied a bolt/spinning nut combo to install them, but what a freakin' PITA. They fit 3 out of 4 of the hex-holes perfectly, but will still spin on you as you throw your weight on the driver getting the rivnut to expand correctly all while trying to hold a crescent wrench on the spinning nut to hold the rivnut flush in the hole. I felt like a juggling clown under the truck. I ended up using a small C-clamp to hold the wrench in place as I didn't have enough leverage to hole the rivnut in place and torque down on the socket driver at the same time. And forget power tools - no room for my impact driver. Spend the money and let a body shop do it unless you love aggravation. Second, the front driver-side hole for the rivnut was way too big for it. Had to reuse an old bolt/bar for the bracket. How did that get overlooked? Did I mention I hate rivnuts? Lastly, the instructions tell you to mount the T-nuts on the brackets so they fit into the step bar once placed. BS! They fall through the holes when trying to set them in place. Some engineer wanted to piss off customers with this stupidity. Solution, have someone hold the bar on the brackets while poking the T-nuts through the back of the bracket up into the step bar. That worked perfectly even though it involved upsetting the wife's world for a couple minutes. At least the payoff of easily getting into the truck was there. ;) Overall, great looking and very functional. Installation on my 2017 RAM 1500 Sport did pose a couple challenges but you can get through them with a little help and 4-lettered words.
