Justin: If the stock halogen headlights in your 2018 through 2020 F150 just aren't cutting it in the looks or performance department, well it's time to consider an upgrade light the Black Plank Style Projectors we have here today. These DOT-approved headlights will feature the low beam projectors and defused LED daytime running lights along with a nice stealthy black look all for right around that $750 price point. Now, in the world of aftermarket headlights, you are going to encounter a ton of options ranging from mild to wild and really everything in between. Now, in my opinion, guys, these are certainly going to be a bit more on the aggressive side, but to me, they look kinda similar to what you might find on an OE Raptor headlight, which I personally find awesome. Now, with that being said, if these really just aren't for you and maybe you preferred something a little bit more factory in appearance, maybe a chrome housing instead, well feel free to check out the rest of our selection back at americantrucks.com. But with that being said, what do you say we run through some of the features here with the plank style headlights. And the first thing that you guys might notice here is the fact that these will actually replace your dated chrome reflector-style factory housing with a more modern low beam projector. Now not only does this look a lot cooler in my humble opinion, but it's also gonna improve your nighttime visibility thanks to the brighter more focused beam of light that will increase your throw. Now your high beam, on the other hand, well, that is at the bottom, that is still going to retain a reflector style housing but it's been kinda shaped or molded in a way that I think flows with the projector up top. Now, I should also mention guys that these lights do include brand new bulbs for you here, both your high and low beam and even your turn signals but if you wanted, you could always use this opportunity to upgrade to something a little bit brighter maybe like an LED bulb. Now between those high and low beams in the factory location, you will find your turn signal portion of the light and if you guys can see it in there, there is a pre-loaded single amber halogen bulb ready to go. Again, these things are pretty much turnkey, guys.Last but not least, my favorite part about these lights, hands down, will be the defused LED daytime running light going around the outer portion here. I think it's done in a very factory-like manner with the outline of the headlight. Sometimes with these aftermarket lights, they get a little crazy with the daytime running lights. Not this one. The plank style, I think, definitely mimics more of an OE style in that regard. And those guys will illuminate with a bright white light whenever your parking lights or your headlights have been switched on. And as you guys can see from our clips here, these things are very bright when in action. Now, all of that lighting firepower has been built into a durable and stealthy black ABS plastic housing, and then as you can see is topped off with a crystal clear lens, it's not smoked. But the combination of a black housing with the clear lens is something I really dig. Still delivers on that kind of aggressive look but without cutting down on your total light output. Now, again, these projectors have been given both a DOT and SAE stamp of approval which basically means they are legal for use in all 50 states. But now what do you say we shift gears and wanna show you what it takes to get these installed on your F150 at home. And guys, site is gonna call this middle-of-the-road two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, which I think is very fair. They say an hour from start to finish. Might take you a little bit longer because of the job, but not much after that. But without further ado, guys, what do you say we check out a detailed walkthrough provided to us by an AT customer right now?Man: All right. The tools that you're gonna need to do this job. I've got both a three-eighths and a half-inch drive socket. But you're gonna need at 10-millimeter to unbolt the top part of the grille and the bottom parts of the headlamps. You're gonna need an 8-millimeter that's gonna take out some of the other screws. Seven-millimeter that's gonna take out inside the fender flares to remove the screws and the hardware from there. You're gonna need a little cat's paw, a little pry tool. This works wonders for popping loose everything on the shroud. You may need a little flathead screwdriver. This is a three-sixteenths flathead screwdriver. And that would be to pop open the two-part pin plugs that are in the shroud. And you may need a set of needle-nose pliers and a set of diagonal cutters. The diagonal cutters I was using because my grille is already wired in place and it was already tie wrapped down, so I need to cut those out of the way in order to lift the grille up and make room to remove the headlamps. And as always with working on vehicles, you should make sure your parking brake is set and your vehicle is in park, all that good stuff. So the first thing that we're gonna need to do, as you can see, I got a little crazy and went ahead and already installed the Raptor style grille on it. So we're just gonna end up moving this out of the way because you have to take the grille out in order to get to all of the bolts to actually remove the headlight housings. So we're gonna end up taking all of this loose and I'm gonna swing the grille just up on top, and then we're gonna get the housings and pull those out. That will let us pop these bad boys up. Pop up to two stages. The first stage like that and then if you kinda push back on them a little bit, it'll let you get right underneath with the cat's paw so that way you can actually see it.As you can see, there's a little groove right in the front of these guys, and that'll let you get the corner of that little cat's paw in there. And then you can pop the top up, push this back and that will give you enough room to just pop it right out of the way. Just pop all of these guys up same exact way. And there we go. Sometimes they'll pop loose like that but it's no big deal because they will just snap right back together. Just gotta reline it back up, pop them back in together like that. And as you can see we got the snorkel for the air intake popped loose. And there has always gotta be one or two pins in the rear in there. There we go.As you can see, this is starting to finally get loose. I think we're down to the last one here. All I'm doing is kinda hooking my fingernail underneath it a little bit to lift that cap up enough so I can get the claw underneath and pop it out. That is all of those and that should have the shroud loose. There we go. I knew it could pop out of the way. And the next step, we have these little 10-millimeter bolts right here. And we will be swapping these guys out of the way while we're here. Spun out. And this is actually what holds the upper part of your grille in place. It holds the louver section of the grille. You should actually have some louvers that go right behind this outer grille that open and close. And [inaudible 00:08:04]The next thing I'm gonna cut loose is the wiring harness that I wired in the lights for my Raptor grille. I got all excited when the grille showed up and I went ahead and installed it right away and couldn't wait to actually see it in there. Turned out really nice. And there we go. But this, I'm hoping, is gonna give me the slack that I need to swing it up and out of the way. Couple of little clips right down here. There we go. And so you'll need to pop that out and I just kinda hooked it around the corner like that so it stays out of the way and doesn't get hung up on anything. Now, that has the entire upper section. All right. So the next part, we've got the top done, we're gonna have to be taking these factory fender flares loose. And in order to do that, it's a little 7-millimeter. We're gonna need your little claw also. But with the factory fender flares, there's one little bolt underneath here that we gotta take loose. There we go. We're nearly done. A couple of these little Christmas trees that we're gonna take loose like that. And that's gonna give us...this little fender flare is gonna pop loose right here and you just gotta kinda work with it. This is probably one of the most difficult parts of the entire job is getting this thing to pop loose without breaking any of the brackets or fasteners. And there it goes. A little persistence but it finally paid off. And we got one and there's the second one. Well, I guess the housings came out but... And it's also just being more difficult. There it goes. There's the other front fascia piece like that that pops loose. Now that we got that loose, we'll be able to get in behind it and actually get at the tabs to pop those out and we'll revisit that on reassembly, but this will give us enough room to let this fascia piece get by. But now we have to go do the other side. All right. So we got it starting to kinda pop loose here. These things are all just...friction holds it in place. They just kinda snap in place. So you gotta kinda work it a little bit from both sides. Again, you just kinda work slow and easy. And we gotta pop loose pretty much all the way over here. There we go. And we got that bad boy popped loose now. And as you can see, this opens up and exposes all of your bolts down on the bottom that hold the housing in place as well as the bolts that hold the grille in place. All right. The next step with this, we're gonna use our 8-millimeter socket. And as we get down here, you've got two little sets of bolts right here. They're both 8-millimeter. This one is a 10-millimeter. And believe the two on top are also tens. But this one is for the grille, this one is for the headlamp assembly. So we're gonna end up needing to take both of those out. And again, we're gonna do it to get the grille out of the way first, and then we're going to go after these guys to get the headlight assembly out. And we're just gonna do one operation at a time. This guy right here. There we go. Once it gets loose enough. If we can get her to slide out. One of the parts that it kinda likes to bind up on is there's this little rubber shroud that's right here. As you can see it rolls back and the very bottom section of the grille loves to find that section magically and snag it. There we go. All right. So now just pulling this guy over and setting him right up here and out of the way, just like that. And see, this is the part that you can see that gets snagged up with this rubber air dam right here, this little rubber thing. Going back at it again, we're gonna work the left side. And right down here is another teeny-weeny itty-bitty 8 millimeters. And also I should mention with this kit came no instructions so your best source of information is gonna be online watching other people's videos on how to do this. Then you gotta shift back to a 10-millimeter and get these little guys loose.I think most of the rest of these are going to be 10-millimeter, I think. These little guys right here on top to do. Anytime you're working on two different sides of your vehicle, you just do them one at a time, and that way you'll always have another side to go reference back to in case you have problems putting one side back together. And the last step that we got is to get underneath here with your little pry tool and we're just gonna try and push this little bracket down and there's a couple of catches underneath here. And we just need to pry it down, hang it around in front this housing and... There it goes. And we just pull straight out. It has one last locking pin right here. Then just disconnect our electrical right there and right there. And ta-da, it is out.All right. So all we're gonna do is grab the Anzo headlamp and we're gonna reverse the process putting it back in. So balance your light here. All right. So now we're reversing the process, so we're putting the electrical plugs back in, and there we go. You just wanna make sure you push it till you feel it click. We got one last one. Right here is one more plug right here. And we will probably get that guy plugged in there. It'd be kinda what we did on the reverse order which is slide this guy back in and use our pry bar. Pin in that corner there. There it went. All right. And looks like we are sitting back in place. And with that last plug, I'm just gonna reach around the corner right here. Plug that last plug in. That'll be the plug in for the turn signal and it has also got my grille lights spliced into it. Get those guys started and that way it'll kinda hold the housing in place and we'll come back to them and tighten them up because we still have some other things. We got one of the little Christmas tree pin plugs that goes back in there. Now I don't have to worry about it falling out of there right away. Leave this guy right there. All right. So we are getting right back in shape. So we're gonna get our couple of... Just making sure that that's blocked back in correctly. There's like a little gap that it slides into. All right. And one of the things I'm gonna do is check this little seam line here and make sure he's all nice and straight and he feels square and even, and then I'm gonna go ahead and tighten the top ones down. Hopefully, that will have me right back about where I should be from the factory. So we're still gonna leave all of this loose. He goes right here and we're still gonna leave all of this loose so we can put that fascia shroud back over the top. So that should pretty much have us done on the left side. And we're just gonna repeat the same process on the right side.Woman: So this is the installed first headlamp. And we just got it on regular low beams, just turn...the vehicle didn't really turn on, we just powered it up and you can see this is the original headlamp that came from the factory. So that one is the one we're gonna be replacing next. And this is the new Anzo headlamp that we got. Go ahead and give it a light switch and see and turn it on. That's nice and bright. And let's check out that turn signal too while we're at it. All right, there we go. There's our new turn signal. So it looks like everything is working. So you wanna check the high beams and I'll kinda go off to the side so we're not blinded by it. And it is also working so that means we're ready to move onto the other side.Man: All right. And back on the right-hand side and there's one of those little clips I didn't realize until we were already disassembling the other side that is right underneath here. There we go. Pull that little guy out and he's located right underneath here right in between those two screw holes is right where that guy goes. So just need to make sure and pop him out. And just like this. This guy and this guy. I'm gonna go and set all these guys down. That's right because he's the little Christmas tree. He's kinda tough. And we just need to kinda... There's a groove right back in here that these guys set into. And so you need to take all of those retainers out of the way like that. And then pull more straight forward, kinda give it a little wiggle. Pop right out. That will expose the pine needles as well as all of your electrical plugs. So take the turn signal plug out by pushing in on this little locking tab. There we go. And that will give us the room to swing back around here. Push in on this little tab and pop that guy out and pop that guy out. Then voila. There we go. That one is kinda tough to sit in there, but we got it. Where's our third plug?Woman: Down in front.Man: There's your third plug with turn signals. Presto. All right. So all of our lights are in and we're just gonna kinda make sure everybody tucks back in there right and shift you back in. There we go. Popped in there on the top and now make sure and we kinda roll this so that bracket gets back in there like that. And we're just gonna put that in place, put that Christmas tree in and we can start these guys. They're in there nice. All right. Here we are back down to nearly the last stages. Putting the grille back in. I'm gonna put my [inaudible 00:24:50] Raptor style grille back right in front of these new headlamps. And just need to kinda make sure everybody is clear and feed it right back into place, just like that, just like that and make sure they're all kinda seated in here. Jiggle this around a little bit, get it lined up. Just gonna get it started on this side and the same thing over here. Look at the spacing of everything, kinda see where we need to get shifted, left or right or up or down. And with aftermarket parts, they allow for a little bit of adjustment as well. Function check. There you go, there you go. It all feels good. All right. We are in the home stretch. We're gonna put in these four 10 millimeters right in the top. Did some minor adjusting to make sure my spacing is right on the headlamp portion right in this area on both sides so we're symmetrical. Look at it and stand back and look at it some more and adjust it until it looks about perfect. And speed these little guys in. All right. And then out next step, we're gonna put in the same tie wraps that we cut loose out of all this. And when you do the grille there's a lovely little hole right here in the hood frame. And we just kinda tuck her in and around the corner right here. It's got a lovely little gap right here around the corner. That keeps it all laying down and it kinda wedges in there. And silly trick with some of these tie wraps. That one broke but give her a little bit of a roll, she'll pop up and through nice and easy. Done a halfway decent job of zip-tying all these things together and they will stay down underneath the shroud that we're gonna put back over the top of this. Just like that. That will lay down beautifully. A little set of diagonal side cutters and we will trim those. Here we go. Here is our shroud. And it goes underneath the airbox snorkel. And I wanna make sure we pull the wire through. Actually, we're gonna hook our wire up. I almost forgot to hook the cable up for the power shutters. And now the shroud can lay over the top of that. And so as we go down here, I'm just gonna pop them all in and leave them up for right now, and we'll make sure that we get them all. And if you have a fist full of parts and a bunch of holes to put them in, start putting them in holes until you run out of parts, just like this. We got these two for airbox intake and one around the corner. I got one extra one and there is one more hole. All right. Now, one, two, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, and thirteen. So that gets the shroud done. And now we can start putting that fascia back in place and then get those fender flares back on. And the easiest way to do this thing is you just kinda start her out in the middle, get it positioned there, and then just kinda, one side at a time, kinda kick these bad boys around. And actually, one of the things that I forgot to do first is... See these little retaining clips that were left in there that kinda came out incorrectly. And this is gonna be best to do just like this, that is to kinda pinch them and pop them out. And for that, might need a set of needle-nose pliers like this, and there we go. And kinda maybe work you out. There you go. All right. Because these things actually fasten right back in here and they kinda do a little like slip and hook, behind like that, and clip in place. Let's go do the other side. And that's gonna allow them to clip back on just like they originally did from the factory. All right. That's one on. There is two. And come over here. And along the top, right down on the bottom. Now we're back to slipping this guy back in place. We just kinda pop him up here. It's more finesse than muscle. Kinda got this end around. There we go. Got that end around and we got this one started, soo I'm just gonna kinda roll with it. There we go. And then get these lined up and in. Pop in our Christmas trees first. That's gonna get us our spacing as soon as I get done throwing them enough times. Screw this thing down, just like that. A couple of Christmas trees, one there, one there. All of them 7-millimeter. And when we get her close and kind of a little [inaudible 00:33:33] fit push and hold, just like that. Justin: Wrapping things up here, guys, if you do want a sleek and stealthy projector set up for your halogen equipped '18 through 2020 F150, then be sure to check out the plank style headlights right here at americantrucks.com

      Good look.

They look great but after 1 week my driver side low/high beams completely stopped working. Anyone else have this issue?

      Nice Upgrade

I needed an upgrade from the stock halogens. Though still halogens, the projector beams offer better focus. The diffused LED accent lighting against a black housing looks great too...prompting me to purchase similar taillights.

      They look great

Awesome upgrade for my 2017 f150. Took about 2 hours from start to finish. Love the sequential turn signals and the start sequence when you unlock the truck. Plug and play is easy as it gets. I ended up just sticking the built in Resistor to the light assembly itself. Hopefully it stays. Overall love the lights.

      Love the new lights

Installed these lights a few weeks ago and absolutely love the look of them and the switchback feature. Recommend watching a YouTube video before starting the install to make sure you take everything apart correctly but not a bad install. Might eventually get LED bulbs but not needed. It’s plenty bright. Great purchase.

      Look AWESOME!

They look awesome in my 2017 black F150 and compliment my switchback towing mirrors very well. I definitely thought the headlights themselves would be brighter. Came with no installation instructions. I also had to splice a wire for the switchback function which was not mentioned in the description.

Made my truck look brand new!

I was looking for headlights for a while and got these as I love the look. With my truck they add so much flare. They are are way brighter than I thought in a good way. I can see a lot better at night and on the trails. The feel like they were meant to be with the truck. It took about 40 minutes and plugged up with no adaptors needed. I love them and Anzo makes a good light.

      Amazing!!

First light was a headache to take out, but after it the second one took about 20 minutes. They look brighter and the DRL makes it stand out, great headlight set!

      Upgraded look

Gives a nice look to the truck very happy with the look of the lights. Would recommend switching h7 bubs to leds before mounting on truck. Halogens are not bright enough. Easy to install. Will take some time but overall very easy to do
