2015 Dodge Ram 3500
Reserved for the biggest of jobs, the 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 continues to deliver monstrous heavy-duty capability. Touted by RAM as 'virtually indestructible in design', the 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel engine is the bell of the ball for this one-ton truck - 385 horsepower and a whopping 865 lb-ft of torque allow Ram 3500 trucks to tow up to 30,000 lbs. 2015 3500 trucks could still be ordered with a manual transfer case with 2WD-Hi, 4WD-Hi, Neutral and 4WD-Lo, which features a 2.64:1 reduction ratio to help with off-road driving.
Increased Utility
All 2015 Ram 3500 pickup trucks come standard with a rear-mounted class V trailer hitch. Adding a secondary, front-mounted hitch can vastly enhance the utility and capability of your truck. Mounting under the front bumper to the front frame horns, a front mounted hitch can allow for a variety of accessories to be mounted on the front. Use a front hitch to easily mount:
- A winch
- A plow
- Bike carrier
- LED spot or light bar
All of these can easily be attached and detached from the truck. And while not intended to tow long distances or big weights, a front mounted hitch can be used (with appropriate ball hitch)to help maneuver smaller trailers into place thanks to the much improved driver visibility.
Aero Front Look
Most would consider the front end of the 2015 Ram 3500 as 'handsome' and 'classic'. Owners can easily redefine this characteristic by swapping out the stock headlight assemblies with a new pair of aftermarket Ram 3500 headlights. OLED head lights are the latest lighting technology in place (brightest and longest lasting), however there are still plenty of projector or conventional assemblies available. HALO lighting continues to be prevalent in many of the aftermarket design, be it around just the main headlights or contouring the entire assembly itself - it still looks great. For those that want a more menacing look, consider a Ram 3500 headlight assembly that uses a black housing. While appearing dark, luminosity will not be greatly affected if used in conjunction with a clear lens. Last but not least, price does matter when it comes to headlight quality. Cheaper headlights will have less adjustability and be more difficult to aim in the first place. Keep this in mind when choosing a new set, as it may look good on the front but it won't help at night if the light is shining up into the tree tops!
Stylish Exhaust
An extremely simple and expensive way to add some bling to your 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 is through a new (or a set, if your Ram has dual exhaust) exhaust tip. Turn-down, straight-cut or slashed cut are the three main styles, featuring a polished or blacked-out finish. When selecting a polished exhaust tip, it is important to choose one that is made from T304 stainless steel. This grade of steel will not rust and is the most resistant to color-change when exposed to heat. Lesser grades of stainless steel (say T409) can suffer from rust spots and more severe discoloration. Blacked out tips do not face this same problem as they will be coated with a high-temperature paint that will effectively seal the metal underneath. In terms of installation, most Ram 3500 exhaust tips use a slip-on connection that is tightened in place through the use of a retaining bolt. Quick, sturdy and easy, getting a new exhaust tip onto your 1-ton pickup is a job that shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.
