(1)Noah: Hey, guys, Noah from AmericanTrucks here and we're taking a closer look at this LED Third Brake Light that's Smoked for the 2009 to 2014 F-150 excluding the Raptor. If you're looking to update your rear end or just be as visible as possible when braking at night, then this is going to be a really great choice for you to check out.This third brake light is designed to give your truck an upgraded and darker look that you're going for, but not only that, it's going to provide some increased brightness and overall better visibility when braking over that factory halogen third brake light with these LEDs. This does have a smoked lens and a chrome housing, so that means it's still going to be really reflective, but it's going to be finished off a little bit more sleek and understated than your average clear or red lens. Now the last thing to note is that there's also an integrated white cargo light that comes on when your doors are open or when you turn your cargo light on, and that's going to illuminate your bed when you'd like it to, which is a big perk.This housing is made from an OEM grade ABS plastic, and the LEDs inside of them are covered by a polycarbonate lens that is weather sealed, so you're protected against any moisture or debris that could try to make its way inside and damage those LEDs. Now this guy is DOT and SAE-compliant as well, which makes it completely legal to use on the street, and you don't need to worry about getting pulled over.Coming in around 150 bucks, this third brake light is a great choice if you're hunting for an upgraded look for your F-150, but you're not looking to shell out a ton of money. I personally think that third brake lights are often overlooked, but they can actually make a really big difference in the grand scheme of your build without a huge investment or commitment.Installing this third brake light on your truck is an incredibly simple job that can be accomplished with minimal hand tools and in pretty much no time at all. For the install difficulty, it's only one out of three wrenches and it's about an hour for the time it's going to take you to get the install complete. Without further ado, next up we've got an AT customer who's going to walk you through the install process on their own vehicle and you can follow along at home.Man: Okay, so today we're doing a third brake light install on a 2012 F-150. It's the Raxiom Axle. It's brand new. Brand new to the website. So, installation video. So, all you need is a Phillips head screwdriver. Right? You can use a drill, but you could strip it out. So, your mileage may vary, I would suggest a Phillips head. Also, you could use a towel. You could have one of those ready. Maybe with some alcohol and some sealant. But those are optional, not absolutely necessary. Your mileage may vary.So, the first thing you want to do is remove the two retaining screws holding on the third brake light. They're simple. Don't lose them because they're integral and they only fit into the matching hardware on the backside. So, the clips. So, once you do that, you pull the third brake light forward. And then, on the backside, take your light housing and you twist them counterclockwise to pop them out and set that to the side. That's done. That's the part you're replacing.Now to do the lights, you just pull them out. They don't twist. Some vehicles may, Fords do not. Putting on our third light. And you take your third brake light, what you want to do is the wiring is all individually labeled. You got cargo light, cargo light, and brake light. It's integral that the brake light plugs into the middle socket only. So, and it's just a slight push.,no audible click or anything. And then your cargo lights, doesn't matter which ones, you just plug those under the sides, right and left.Make sure you line them up just right. It's relatively simple. You just don't want to bend anything. Yeah, there. Okay, once you have those plugged in, tuck your wiring inside. Now you may take a towel and wipe off your edging. It's totally up to you. Clean it off really well. You want a good clean seal. Some people put a sealant down, but I find that this one has a decent gasket on there already. You don't really need it.Line up your hole with your screw to the retention clip in the back. Just one good thread turn. And once you got it on there and you know it's in the hole, you just tighten down one side five or six turns. You want to do them both at the same time. You want it to be even. Don't over-tighten. You don't want to strip those clips out. Strip those clips out, you'll have to replace them. And then remove the cover.
