Merideth: What's up, guys? Merideth with americantrucks.com, and today we are checking out this Evaporative Emissions Purge Solenoid Valve, fitting all 2015 through 2018 2.7-liter EcoBoost F-150s. Now, if you're noticing some fuel economy issues with your truck, warning lights on your dash, or even have a check engine light that's throwing an EVAP code, this may be a solution for you. Now, this will be a very important piece of the puzzle to your EVAP system, or your evaporative system, and if this has failed or has started to fail, causing those symptoms, or you have a P1450 code, this purge valve will be a quality OE-style replacement to fix it.Now, the purpose of this little component here is to remove the excess fuel vapor from a vehicle's evaporative emission control system, and a faulty valve can disrupt your AFR, air-to-fuel ratio, which can cause a whole bunch of random symptoms. And you can feel reduced engine power, sluggish acceleration, poor fuel economy, and even engine stalling. However, this is going to be an easy solution to either fix the code, or prevent the code from ever happening. Now, as far as the construction is concerned, this is gonna be an OE-style part, so there's not a lot of fanciness going on here. This will have factory-style connectors on each side. You will have an electrical plug on one side, and it's going to be plug-and-play, mimicking the factory system to a T. Now, this will have mainly plastic components to it. You will have OE-style connectors, and again, that plug at the top, and it's gonna have quality sheathing on it, so, you can ensure that this will be up to OE standard. Now, this is about $90, and is a fair price, considering that this is a factory replacement part. Now, it will, however, save you a few bucks compared to dealer prices, especially if you're doing this install yourself. But regardless of the price, if you're looking for an easy solution to the poor performance symptoms of your F-150, this is going to be a great one for you.Install will be a 1 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter, because it is easily accessible. Should only take about 20 minutes to get this installed. Now, speaking of the install, one of our customers here has put this on their truck, and is going to walk you through what that process looks like. So, that is going to wrap it up for my review. Let's go ahead and jump into the install.Man: This is what we're gonna be using for this installation. Your canister purge valve, a ratchet, extension, 10-millimeter socket, flathead screwdriver, and a pair of gloves.Today we're gonna be installing a canister purge valve on 2016 F-150 with 2.7 motor. First of all, let's take off the engine cover, which is held by two 10-millimeter bolts. Extension is required to get into the bolt next to the filler cap. Once the bolts are off, the cover will slide right off, and you can keep the oil filler cap on. If you have aftermarket cold air intake, you might struggle a little bit. But if you have stock air intake, this thing should slide out, like, very easy. Once the engine cover is off, you can see the canister purge valve right here. The reason for the installation today is due to a check engine light, with the code P1450. And this 99% of the time resolves in a faulty canister purge valve. So, let's disconnect the electric first, which is the connection all the way in the back. I can only do it with one hand because I'm on a lifted truck, and it is really hard to get to the back of the engine bay. So, for the blue tab, you have to squeeze the bottom, and then push it up to release the clip. All right, not very successful right over there. Let's take the one that connects to the throttle body first. The clip might vary, based on the brand of your canister purge valve, but for the stock one, push the green pins all the way to the other end, and it should release the clip from throttle body. And for the white clip, you have to push it in and up from both sides. Again, it's really hard to work with one hand. It is a lot easier to push both at the same time. However, let me try this.Once the purge valve is off, let's replace it with the new one. There are no tools used during the installation. And the valve is basically held by multiple clips. All right, the canister purge valve, the brand new one, is installed. Make sure there's a little clip right over there to hold the valve in place, so it's not moving during the driving. Now it's time to put the engine cover back on. You see there are two metal brackets right here. It goes on the end of the engine cover, right over there.Merideth: So, that is going to wrap it up for my review and the install of this Evaporative Emissions Purge Solenoid Valve, fitting all 2015 through 2018 2.7-liter EcoBoost F-150s. And you can find this right here at americantrucks.com.
