(1)Hey, guys, it's Sara with americantrucks.com, and today we have a review an install of the Duratrek 4 inch Oval Bent End Sidestep Bars in stainless steel, fitting your '19 and newer Chevy Silverado 1500, excluding the classic models. These are perfect for the Silverado owner who wants to add the convenience of a step to their truck and wants a large oval step bar with a polished finish. These steps provide a safe and easy entry into your truck, especially if it's lifted or leveled like ours, and adds a bit of side protection against minor door dings.These steps feature a 4 inch oval design with bent ends and a stainless steel construction with a mirror-polished finish and non-slip step pads. So as far as price goes, this one comes in at around $350, making it on the lower end price-wise when compared to other steps. And for your money, you're gonna get a nice wide oval stepping surface which provides a larger step than some lower-priced oval options. I'm giving this install a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It features direct bolt-up install, and can be done within two hours. So with that said, let's jump into our install.For this install, you will need an impact gun or a ratchet, 21, 19 and 13-millimeter sockets. All right, so the first step in our install is to grab the brackets, make sure you have the proper side, we're starting on the passenger, and get them bolted up to the factory body bolts. All right, so the first thing we need to do is remove the body bolt. We're starting with the very front one. Grab a 21-millimeter socket and let's get this removed. All right, so now we can install the front bracket. We're using the one that says "passenger front." It is marked on there and it should be in this position. Now we're gonna change this up a little bit and I'm gonna put the washer on top. Don't necessarily really need it up there, but it couldn't hurt. We're gonna install the bolt through the bottom like this, and then install it back into the body loosely. Once they're all installed and the step is on, we're gonna tighten it down from there. Now you can repeat that with the center body bolt. Again, this is a 21-millimeter. Now this center bracket mounts up like this with the angled section going up to the body bolt. We're gonna repeat the same thing with the washer, installing the factory bolt underneath it, and we're gonna get this up in the body snug but not tight so that we can install our step. And finally, we're gonna remove the rear body bolt. This one is recessed up a little higher. It is still a 21-millimeter.Now we're going to install the bracket. This one's also labeled on the bottom with "passenger rear," and it's gonna face like this with the edge toward the outside, and we're gonna bolt it up with the factory washer on top, same as the other ones, and the factory body bolt through both of them. Install it loosely for now and then we're gonna tighten it down later.All right, with our brackets in place, we can now grab our step and get it bolted up. All right, so grabbing the larger hardware with a washer, lock washer, and bolt, we're gonna thread it into the front bracket. And again, snug but not tight until we get the other two mounting points installed. All right, now we're moving on to the rear. This is just going to help support the step a little bit better. We're gonna install the same hardware, the larger hardware with a lock washer, washer, and bolt. Line up the bracket, want it to be in the correct position for it to thread in nicely. Just wiggle the step around. This is why we left it loose. And once it's snug, you can move on to the center support.All right, so now we're going to install the center support. May need to maneuver this bracket around to get this smaller bolt in. This one also needs a washer and lock washer. Go ahead and thread it in. Grab a 13-millimeter socket and tighten it down. Next up, we're gonna tighten the bracket in the front, holding the bracket to the step. All right. And as you can see, there is a good amount of adjustability here, so if the step is not sitting exactly where you like it, you can always get some adjustment out of the bracket. Once you're happy with it, grab a 21-millimeter socket and tighten down the body bolt back into your truck.All right, now we can tighten down the body bolt holding our center support bracket. All right, now you can grab your 19-millimeter socket and tighten down the bolt going into the back part of the step. And then grab your 21-millimeter socket and tighten the body bolt holding on your bracket.All right, so that is gonna do it for the review and install of our step bars.
