Justin: Hey, everybody. I'm Justin with americantrucks.com, and today we're taking a closer look at and showing you how to install the Barricade Modular Front Bumper, with Skid Plate, fitting all 2009 to 2014 F-150s, excluding the Raptor. Now, you guys should be checking out the Barricade for your F-150 if you'd like to go with a somewhat affordable off-road-inspired bumper, that will deliver much better approach angle, a burly steel construction, and spots for auxiliary lighting, along with a very cool look, of course, all for right around that mid $800 price point.Getting into our list of features here with the Barricade, and there are a few to cover, so let's go over them. First and foremost, I just personally really dig the look of the modular option. The combination of the angular steel build, with the included skid plate, not shown here on the table, does result in a very aggressive yet somewhat simple approach, that I think will be appealing to a lot of truck owners out there. Now, appearance aside, there is a ton of functionality going on here, starting with those angled ends. Now, these guys are gonna help deliver more approach angle off-road, when compared to your factory bumper. Now, you're also getting protection both on and off road with the modular bumper, thanks to the included skid plate, that will help protect some of your F-150's vitals, such as your oil pan and even more. Now, finally, guys, the features list here does keep going. The modular bumper does include LED lighting already installed here, as you can see on the sides. Very modular, very modern, I should say. But you also have this very large center opening to work with here, for maybe even a single bar, some additional cube lights, along with some openings here up top if you wanted to throw some rounds or cubes up there as well. So, really a ton of opportunity to throw auxiliary lighting on this bumper, in addition to what is already included, to really help crank up your visibility at night or on the trail. Now, moving into construction, and the Barricade bumper and skid plate will both utilize a heavy-duty cold-formed 5/32-inch plate steel build, that will certainly be able to handle some abuse both on and off road. Now, that steel material has been finished off in a two-stage epoxy powder coat, to keep that steel looking good for many years to come, and, of course, prevent any corrosion. Now, the bumper does include some wire mesh to be used in both the center opening, which is pre-installed, as you can see. It does also include a similar mesh for the ends. If you'd like to incorporate that if you like, it is included. And they do also kick in a license plate bracket for the front here, for owners who do require a front plate. Now, the modular bumper from Barricade does not include any D-ring mounts or recovery points, but the factory tow hooks are still accessible if needed. Finally, guys, the Barricade does kick in all of the brackets and everything else needed for the install, that we'll show you here in a little bit. Now, moving into price point, and the Barricade, with its mid to high $600 price tag, will be very affordable in the land of off-road bumpers, even more so once you start comparing this option to other bumpers in the category from companies like ADD, DV8, Fab Fours, and others, which can cost hundreds if not thousands more. So, again, if you're looking for a nice kind of entry-level way, price point-wise, to get into an off-road bumper, with a lot of functionality, this is certainly gonna be a great bet.All right. Last but not least, let's get into our install, as we mentioned earlier. Site's gonna go with a strong 1 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter here, guys, and roughly two hours to complete, from start to finish. Now, I do say strong because this thing is kind of heavy, so you might wanna have an extra set of hands or two around to help you lift this into place when it comes time for the install. But now, to give you a better idea of how this one might go down in the garage or driveway at home, let's throw it out to the shop for our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown.Man 1: For this install, you need a 3/8 impact and ratchet, zip ties, a 3/8 extension, a 21, 18, 17, 17 swivel, 16, 15, and 10-millimeter socket, the supplied Allen keys, an 18, 16, and 10-millimeter wrench, and a pair of diagonal cutters. All right. Today we're gonna be installing a front bumper onto our F-150. First, we're gonna watch a quick video how to uninstall the stock one, then we're gonna come back here to install the new one.Man 2: Now, before we go and loosen up any of the hardware holding on our front bumper, we're going to have to crawl under our F-150 and unplug the fog lights. And in order to unplug those, we're just gonna pull back on this release tab, and push down at the same time. That should pop off just like that. We're gonna do the same thing over here on the other side as well. Now we're gonna loosen up these 21-millimeter nuts holding our bumper to the frame rail. Now, one thing to note, this might be blocked with an air dam piece. If that's the case, you could use a trim panel removal tool to get that out of the way. And after that's done, you can come in here with a 21-millimeter socket on the impact, to loosen up those nuts. That's one done. There's another one on the opposite side of the frame rail as well. And then we can come over and do the same thing on the opposite side as well. One thing to note is these two nuts are the last things holding the bumper to the truck. So, once you get them removed, be careful, have a hip into the bumper to hold it still, and then you can take this off.Man 1: All right. Before we can start installing our bumper, we just need to do a little bit of assembly. We have our top bar, our mesh screen, and we also have to just secure our side pieces that folded in. All right. Now we're gonna start by securing the side of the bumpers. There are two M10 bolts that will go into the bolt holes here. There's threaded nuts already welded in. And then we're gonna tighten these two nuts and bolts here. So, we're gonna grab our impact, extension, 16-millimeter socket, a 17-millimeter swivel socket, and a 16-millimeter wrench. All right. So, now we're gonna take our bolts. We're gonna put a lock washer and flat washer on. Thread them in. Take our 16-millimeter socket, and tighten those down. All right. Now we're gonna switch to our 17-millimeter swivel. We're gonna go on the inside, on these nuts, and take our 16-millimeter wrench, hold the head, tighten these two down. All right. Now you go ahead, do the same thing on the other side. All right. Now we're gonna put our mesh screens into place. Two smaller ones will go on either end. The bigger one in the middle. We're gonna grab our hardware. We have these Allen bolts that already have our washers on them, and then our matching nuts. Bolts will go through the screen side, and then thread into our nuts. Might be a little hard to get them lined up. There's not a lot of room. Just take your time. Go ahead and get all of them started. All right. We can start by tightening our outside ones. We're gonna have our supplied Allen key and 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench. All right. And we'll just work our way down. All right. Now, here, you have an option if you want. You could use the supplied front license plate bracket. There are two holes here on the bumper here, where it would mount to, so you would just use the supplied hardware, and mount it like so. We don't have a front license plate, so we're not gonna install that today. Next will be the top piece. So, this is the top, this is the bottom. This bar will slide under, like so. You'll see the welded nuts on the bottom. We're gonna use our last of our supplied Allen bolts with the washers built in, and our supplied Allen key, and thread them through the top and tighten them down. All right. Now we just need to hook up our wiring. So, we have our positive and negative terminal that will go to our battery. We're gonna have to run our button, and then run each wire that's gonna go to each light on the side. All right. Now we're gonna grab our ratchet and 10-millimeter socket, to take our two nuts off. All right. We're gonna hook up our wires, and then we can tighten down those nuts again. All right. Now we're gonna take our one connector that's gonna go to our passenger side light. We're gonna run it in front of the battery, and have it come out behind the headlight. All right. Then we could just tuck it down where the bumper will go, and then we'll secure the rest of it later. And then we're just gonna continue running the rest across the front. All right. Now we're just gonna secure our wiring, going across. Gonna start with our relay here. Grab a zip tie, and just secure it to these wires here. Grab a pair of diagonal cutters, cut off the excess. We can tuck our wire along here, and secure it to the harness here. All right. Now we can run our other connector to the other side of the bumper, and then we have to run our button. All right. Now we're gonna run our other connector behind our driver side headlight, and down towards where the bumper will be. Gonna just go through the same place, and pull the extra through. So, we just wanna make sure that the wire is not gonna touch anything hot up top or down here. Then we can grab a zip tie, to secure it to the headlight mount here. And once again, we'll secure the rest later. All right. Now we're gonna run our button. We're gonna run it through the firewall. All right. Now we're gonna run our button through. We have it routed around our air box, and then we're gonna go through our plug in the firewall here. There's a rubber grommet. It's gonna be hard to see, because my hands are probably gonna block everything. So, you're gonna pull that out of the way, and then fish your button through. All right. And once you have that fished all the way through, we're gonna go inside the vehicle and mount the button. All right. Now we pulled our wire all the way through. We have our excess that we just zip-tied to a harness here. We'll make sure that stays out of the way. You can mount your button wherever you want. We're just gonna mount ours on our dash here. Gonna pull our protective backing off our double-sided tape, and then just stick it to our dash, like so.All right. Now we're here on the driver side front of the vehicle. We're gonna do a few things. We're gonna mount up our bracket. We're gonna take our 15-millimeter nut off of our air dam, that will need to be removed to put the skid plate on. Also, we're just gonna secure the rest of our wiring. We're gonna start with our bracket. You will see that's labeled D, for driver side. Gonna sit on the frame, like so. Gonna grab two of our largest bolts, with a flat washer, put them through the front. And then on the backside, we're gonna do another flat washer, lock washer, and then our nut. All right. Then we can grab our impact, 18-millimeter socket, and 18-millimeter wrench, and tighten those two down. All right. We'll switch to a 15-millimeter socket. Take our nut off our air dam. All right. I'm just gonna bunch up the rest of our wiring over here. All right. So, we're just gonna bunch up the rest of our wiring. We even have our factory fog light wire here, which we can just tuck up out of the way. Grab the zip tie. All right. And just cut off the excess. All right. Now you go repeat the same thing on the other side. The only thing that's gonna change is once you take that 15-millimeter bolt off for the air dam, the air dam will just drop down. You're just gonna pull it down and remove it. All right. And now we can just pull our air dam off.All right. Now, what we're gonna do is we're gonna go grab a buddy to help us lift this bumper into place. It is just a little bit awkward and heavy. And then we're gonna get our bumper brackets on the outside of our frame brackets. The stack-up is going to be our bolts with a flat washer, it'll go through, and on the backside, we're gonna do another flat washer, lock washer, and then our nut. All right. Now we just need to tighten our three bolts on either side. We have one, two, three. What we're gonna do is we're gonna grab our impact, extension, and 16-millimeter socket, and a 16-millimeter wrench to hold the head side, and tighten them down. All right. You can go ahead, do the same thing on the other side. All right. Now we're gonna plug in our light, our connector here. And if you need to, you can secure the wire up a little bit more. And go ahead, do the same thing for the other light. All right. Now we just need to remove these two bolts back here on the frame, to install our skid plate. They are 17-millimeter on our truck. I'm not sure if these are factory or not. Yours might be different. We're gonna remove these two. All right. We will be reusing these to install our skid plate. Get our skid plate into place. It will sit on top of the front of the bumper. All right. We can just thread these back in for right now. All right. In the front, we have our Allen bolts. We're gonna put a lock washer and a flat washer, and then thread them into the nuts welded onto the back of the skid plate. All right. We can grab our impact and tighten our back two bolts. [inaudible 00:16:54] gonna grab our supplied Allen key and tighten down our front ones. All right. And that wraps up our install of our Barricade HD Modular Front Bumper, with Skid Plate, for our 2009 to 2014 F-150, excluding the Raptor. And remember, for everything F-150, keep it right here at americantrucks.com.
