Hey guys. Adam here with americantrucks.com, and today we're taking a closer look at and installing the Barricade Extreme HD Front Bumper available for the '04 to '08 F150. You should be checking this out if you're looking to ditch the factory front bumper and favor one that's gonna be offroad ready, one that's giving you a more aggressive front end look for your F150. But also one that's more durable than the factory bumper so you can take it on and off-road a lot easier. This is made from a one-piece 5/32-inch steel plating, and it's got a durable black powder-coated finish with a durable epoxy pre-coating on it as well and a textured black. Now, that's gonna help with corrosion and rust resistance. But it's also giving you a nice stealthy look at the front end. Now, you'll notice this barricade extreme HD front bumper is a lot more angular and more aggressive than the factory one which is pretty rounded off and bubbly looking to match that generation body style for the F150.This Angular look is gonna bring it up a little bit more at an angle this way to give you a better approach angle. It's also a little bit higher up off the ground as well just to give you a little bit more ground clearance for off-roading. And the nicest thing about this, in my personal opinion is the modularity of it. Now, this bumper comes with a honeycomb backing, which is removable, and you can also add auxiliary lighting in the future if you want it to pick it up sometime down the road. The nice thing about this one is it's more of the entry-level offroad bumper in the category, which means that it's just your basic offroad bumper. Doesn't come with any of the bells and whistles that some of the more premium options do, but it allows you to add on the things like lighting in the future if you're not looking to spend that money right now. So, you can add lighting here, there's brackets at the top here and slotted holes so you can mount lighting brackets and whatnot. Same thing goes for the center there. That center cutout also has a number of different mounting points so you can add either fog lights, or spotlights, or even one solid light bar in that position. Now, if you're not looking, like I said to pick it up altogether now, you might be interested in this bumper. Barricade also offers a next-level package where you can get this particular extreme HD front bumper, in addition to two LED cube lights, which you can install on the sides there. You can take that even farther and get the all-inclusive barricade bumper package, which includes four of those cube lights and the light bar for the center. So, you have a couple of options in the category. If you're looking for just this entry-level one and maybe some in the future, you can pick this guy up for just around 680 bucks. Now, the install dor this, I'm gonna give one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. There's no cutting, there's no drilling, no permanent modification. All you need is some elbow grease, maybe a helping hand from a friend, and about two hours from start to finish to get this installed. I'm gonna show you every step of the process here from start to finish, what do you say we get started.Tools used in this install include an impact gun extension 10-millimeter, 13-millimeter, 16-millimeter, and 21-millimeter deep sockets, a ratchet, 13-millimeter, and 16-millimeter wrenches. All right, first step getting our factory bumper off, you got to pop your hood of course, and you're gonna remove these three 8-millimeter bolts, there's one, two, three holding the plastic trim onto that bumper. I'm gonna use my extension and my 8-millimeter socket to get them off.All right, next up, we have to take off our hood latch. Now, the hood latch is just one 10-millimeter bolt. So, we're gonna put that there with our extension and get this off. So, that's disconnected, we're just gonna set that aside right there. I'm actually gonna take that factory 10-millimeter and I'm just gonna thread it back on so we don't lose it. Next up, we have to do both of the grille bump stop brackets, that's this rubber piece here that follows all the way down to another 10-millimeter, grab your extension and socket and get that off and do the same thing on the other side. And again, I'm just gonna thread that bolt back on. All right, now we're doing the same thing on the other side. For this next step, you could just crawl under the truck, but it might be easier for you to just reach your hand down here. I'm gonna lift up this air flap here and I'm just gonna reach my hand in and pinch and disconnect our foglight. Basically, just lift it up on the tabs and pushing it down. Here we go. Do the same thing on both sides. There are four nuts holding on the factory bumper, both of which you can reach from right under the hood here. So, there's one right here, one on this side of the frame as well, and then of course on the other side of the vehicle. Grab a 21-millimeter socket and your ratchet and I'm gonna basically work these guys off from up top. You can of course crawl underneath the truck if it makes your life easier. Once you break them loose, you should be able to work them off by hand. The next one is directly in the opposite side of this frame rail here, you're just gonna go right across and do the same thing. There you go.And now we can do the same thing on the other side. So, now we're doing the same thing on the other side looking at these 21-millimeter nuts, you wanna make sure you're supporting the bottom of the front bumper there just to make sure you're catching it if it falls off. Now we have one more on the other side of the frame there. All right, so I'm just getting this last bolt off. With that guy out of the way, the bumper is free, so you wanna carefully pull it away from the truck and set it aside. All right, so we got our factory bumper off of our '07 F150. It's on the ground here next to our barricade HD extreme front bumper, I wanna go through some similarities and differences between the two here. And first and foremost, I wanna start off by saying that not only is this gonna be a more aggressive appearance, but the quality of the construction is completely different here. Your factory bumper is way more susceptible to dense scratches and otherwise just simple damage from either on or off-road trail hazards. Now, the new option here from barricade is 5/32-inch steel plating, it's a complete one-piece bumper here. So, you don't have to attach different sections, making sure that everything's lined up properly. It's just one piece that you're gonna bolt right up to the truck here. So, the 5/32-inch steel plating is gonna be a lot more durable than the factory one. So it can take a beating on and off-road a little bit better. Now, on top of that, you also have a protective coating, it's also got a really high-quality finish on it too. So, this is a textured black powder coating that uses a two-stage epoxy pre-coating right before the high-grade black powder coating on top. Now, that's a textured black powder-coating. It's gonna be corrosion and rust-resistant, which is gonna add a corrosion and rust-resistant layer to the steel. And it's also gonna be scratch resistant so that if it does get scratched at all, it definitely hides it a little bit better than otherwise high gloss or just glossy metallic would be.Now, this guy here is also gonna be able to attach aftermarket auxiliary lighting if you want to add that in the future. Now, this particular option on the site is more of the entry-level, barricade extreme HD bumper, it means it basically just comes with the bumper itself, it doesn't have any aftermarket lighting with it, but it's modular. So, you see this honeycomb backing there can be removed so you can add larger or additional lighting like auxiliary foglights, or spotlights in there and then of course the center section can have a light bar. So, if you wanna take that even further and really spice up that front end auxiliary lighting, you can do so with this. On the other hand, this barricade bumper is offered as an upgraded package with two additional 3-inch cube lights that you can put one on each side. Or you can take that even farther and get four cube lights and a light bar in the package. So, depending on how much you wanna spend right out of the box, it's definitely something that you can either add on to in the future or pick up with a bunch of additional upgrades or options available. Now, aside from that just straight-up form factor, it's very different. Your factory bumper is very curved, it's got a lot of bubbly characteristics to it, whereas your new barricade bumper is very angular. It's got a more aggressive angular finish to it. You can see it cuts off pretty hard there and it's also gonna come up a little bit higher off the ground than your factory bumper. The factory bumper has that bottom chin spoiler which is gonna hang down a little bit farther than the actual bumper does. The new barricade bumper doesn't have that so it just gets a hard stop right at the bottom there where you see the mesh at the front end there. Now, that's gonna give you a little bit more ground clearance at the front end so you have a better approach angle coming up the obstacles off-road. Finally, guys, what do you say we could jump on over to the install, we've got a few brackets to install first, and then we'll throw the bumper on. All right, first step here we're gonna take our bracket and we have our driver side bracket. And I'm gonna slide that guy into position. Now, what you wanna do is take one of the hex bolts along with a flat washer, put that through the front. You also wanna take a flat washer and a lock washer, split washer, and put it through the back. Now, once you have those on, take one of the nuts and thread it on to the back, doing everything by hand at first. With that guy in place, do the same thing on this other side. All right. Now, when you tighten this guy down, you wanna try to get it centered on both sides so it's nice to even. Grab a 16-millimeter wrench and a 16 socket and tighten them down. All right, next up, we're gonna install our grille relocation brackets. Now, this is gonna go right on the front, the top two holes, put the bracket on the front of it, you can go underneath with a smaller hex bolt followed up with the same process as before using a flat and split washer, and then a knot on the backside. So that one will hold it up and then we have to do another one right next to it. All right, grab a 13 socket and wrench and tighten them down. Now, I'm gonna use an extension for the 13 socket as well. All right, now we can repeat this on the other side. All right, at this point, you can basically get your bumper in position have a helping hand on decks because it is pretty heavy, crawl underneath and work the bolts. All right, so now we can line up a bumper and tighten down these bolts. All right, now at this point, depending on which model you have, you may have to install a hood latch relocation bracket. Because ours is still using this factory plastic piece we can pop our bracket right back on, following up with that factory 10-millimeter bolt and I'm gonna tighten that guy down. Also, a similar case applies to our bump stops. Now, we did install these bump stop relocation brackets on the sides, we attach those to the brackets holding our bumper on depending on what model you have, you may have the shorter bump stops in which case install the shorter bump stops to this slot here.If you have a model with the longer bump stops like the ones that we took off, that's not gonna work with this bracket. You can omit those all together and it'll just connect to the hood latch here. At that point, you're good to go. That's gonna wrap up my review and install for the barricade extreme HD front bumper for the '04 to '08 F150. You can get yours right here at americantrucks.com.

Bumper
Works great and looks good! The light bar took a little bit of time to install and had to buy extra hardware to make it work it is a 20 inch I would recommend using a 24 inch and it should work perfectly.

Very nice addition
In my efforts to "Raptorize" my '05 F150 I looked all over the internet for an attractive front bumper but everything out there looked like I was either too sporty like I was getting it ready to do the Baja 1000 or too bulky like I was about to push cattle out of the way. The Barricade bumper is the perfect balance. I opted for the model without the LED cubes and light bar because I already have a set of Rigids I will be installing. I also had the it Rhino lined for extra protection and looks. With the help of the included instructions and the AT video, installation COULD have been a breeze. However, it took a full day because apparently the results of a fender bender I had about 10 years ago came back to haunt me as I could not figure out why things were not lining up. After doing some investigating and numerous repositioning of the brackets (by the 4th re-install, the weight of the bumper was starting to kick in!!) I could see where the repair was done - driver side frame rail - and that it was slightly shifted. Using a Dremel, I ended up having to widen the mounting holes on the passenger side frame rail by a 1/4 inch and everything fell into place. Look awesome and I have received tons of compliments on it. I only wish Barricade made a rear bumper for the '05.

MOVE CHICK, GET OUT THE WAY
Installed the way it was supposed to. Beautiful rugged finish. Matched exactly how I wanted. Doesnt however come with an optional winch recovery system setup. If you had that, it would be better than perfect.

Awesome bumper
Bought this for my '05 F-150 thinking "it's for '06 to '14, it couldn't be THAT different, could it?" There are three mounting holes per side for this bumper, my '05 only uses two per side, waiting until my master mechanic brother can assist. Will amend this review after installation occurs.

Review shared from Barricade Extreme HD Front Bumper with LED Light Bar, Fog and Spot Lights (04-08 F-150)
Bolted right up nice but the wiring was a bit excessive
Went together nice and easy and looks great! BUT they send you with 3 separate harnesses for the lights(6 connections to the battery, 3 relays, 3 switches) so what I did was splice all 4 pods wiring together behind the bumper and ran the new harness for the pods and one for the light bar to the battery(to retain both relays then spliced the switches together right after the relays so now I only only have 1 switch inside the truck
