Noah: Hey, it's Noah from American Trucks and we're checking out the Roush Cold Air Intake for the '04 to '08 5.4L F-150. This intake is the perfect choice for an F-150 owner who's looking for a top tier performance upgrade that doesn't stray too far from stock and doesn't break the bank. The main goal with the Cold Air Intake is deleting the restrictions the factory intake comes with, and Roush's Cold Air Intake flows 400 CFM more air than the factory one, which is going to increase throttle response as well as horsepower and torque. Now, without any restrictions, silencers or baffles, air's free to move into your engine faster, which is going to result in a happier motor and an overall more enjoyable driving experience. Now, the included air box acts as a nice barrier to shield that filter and intake inlet from the heat and the elements and the filter included can be oiled or run dry. So, right out of the box, you're protected from smaller particulates floating around the engine bay. And that filter is also reusable. So, when that guy gets dirty, you can just wash it and put it right back on.The intake is constructed from black heavy duty plastic. That means this intake is lightweight and cheaper to buy than something constructed from metal, and it's sturdy enough to resist cracking or engine warping because of engine bay heat. Now, plastic is also known to dissipate heat faster than metal, so this is going to help keep those intake air temps down and prevent heat soak, which is especially important on a performance-oriented build. And then lastly, that filter is made from Nano-fibers instead of the regular gauze or cotton design. That means it's going to do a great job filtering out even super small particulates in the engine bay, and the filter itself is backed by Roush's lifetime warranty. Now, let's talk price. Roush's Cold Air Intake comes in right around the low $400 mark. That puts it towards the top of the price range, but not super far away from the price of most intakes available on the site. Automotive grade plastic is a cheaper option than an aluminum intake, but it will be just fine under the hood. And again, it's going to help keep those intake temps down. Now, considering the Roush name and the quality you get for the price, I'd say this is a very solid option, when shopping for intakes for your truck. The install is going to fall at 1 out of 3 wrenches of difficulty. Now, this job should be pretty easy for anybody, and I would say count on spending about an hour on it. All the parts you need to install this intake are included in the kit, like the clamps, fittings, and boots. And this intake is a simple bolt-on job and it doesn't require any fabrication or tuning. Now, without further ado, here's an actual AT customer who's going to show you how to do it.Man: All right. For tools, we use impact and these two wrenches, a size 8 deep socket, size 10 deep socket, size 10 wrench, a T20, Phillips, and these two hex keys. And that was all that was needed. All right. So we're going to take off these four bolts on this side, and then one back here. It's a 10 millimeter. And next, we're going to have to take off these little pins for the airflow sensor. One over here, pop that one off, pop this out. Just come right off of the throttle body. All right, so here's the filter. Definitely a big difference from the stock one.So, next what we're going to do is we're going to take some of the hardware off of this and put it on here. So, first thing is this rubber piece that was down here, goes onto your throttle body. You're going to take that off. I'm going to put it on this thing. Make sure it's on there tight. Okay. All right.Next, we're going to do the mass airflow. So, you're going to only take a T20 to get these two. So, one on this side and then there's one underneath. Just be careful, you don't want to touch it. Put this somewhere safe, just to set it down. You want to make sure these line up. And obviously there's only one way to put it in. So, once we get these both in, we'll come back and tighten them. And then in the kit you have some rubber piece, we're going to stuff it in here like that, move it around a little bit so it doesn't get pinched. And then take this piece, jam it in there. All right. We've got these two brackets. Go on the side like this. Okay, so I have these backwards. So, it's this one you want the triangle part of it to go back this way towards the cab of the truck. I'm going to leave that a little loose so we can kind of move it around and make it so it's angled right when we put it in. And then we'll tighten it down when it's all in. So, this side on, and that side leave it loose. Next is the Roush face plate. And then it will go on there, kind of line it up, make sure it's centered before you tighten it all.Okay, so next we're going to assemble the air box, these two pieces. That's the bottom and then attaches to the truck. You got this, slides on in there, and line up all the holes as best you can. These ones seem to be the easiest. We're going to put the bolts on these ones first. So, you got these little ones with the Phillips head. And then let's see these little locknuts. And once we get these two done, we kind of pull the other ones into place. So, I'd leave these kind of loose just so we can move it around a little bit. That one you definitely have to work through a little bit. So, all the other ones went in pretty easy. It's just that corner one that's giving us issues. So, we need this bracket and two washers and a nut bolt, and then same thing on this side. So, we're going to go bolt this into the front of the truck. So, it's just going to go right here. So, what you're going to want to do is, this is going to go underneath, where's your... So, we're going to stick these rubber pieces in this hole and slide it to the smaller one, and same on this side. Stick it in the bigger one and just slide it over to the smaller side. That's it. Box in, line up the holes. Take washer and nut, and stick the [inaudible] and the washer down. Grab this long piece, stick it underneath. And then with four hands, you're going to put this.Okay, I think I got it. Once you get the first one in, it'll be easier. So, on this side, I got to put a piece on. This little L-shaped bracket goes on the back end. So you can put it on with the stock bolts. [inaudible] just put it on. Okay. So you're going to want to take this piece, this piece, this piece, all of your stock bolts and these three, because we're going to put them, use that to bolt onto the box. So, we're going to take this piece, put it in right there. There's some bolts on the other side, you got to line them up. These ones right there. There's three of them on the back, this thing holding it. Bring this here, one right here, one right here, and then one there's directly on the bottom. So, after those are tightened, this little piece right here. All right, so we'll put this. So, first put it on the throttle body. Okay. Stick it in here. Just get it set. And then we're going to want to take these brackets and line it up with where the stock bolts were for the air box. So, you've got this one, this one, and then two on this side. You got this L-shaped bracket that we put on earlier. This goes right here to hold up. All right. With the impact, tighten these up, these smaller ones as well.Okay. So next, we're going to tighten this one real quick, so we can tighten this band. That is definitely not going anywhere. All right. Let's plug in the mass airflow, not going anywhere. Plug in to this side, and this one. Before you put it on, make sure that you can actually reach the screw to tighten it. All right, that's it.Noah: That was the Roush Cold Air Intake for the '04 to '08 5.4L F-150. This intake is available on our site along with tons of other upgrades for your truck. they do work

These actually do work and on my truck it took 1.2 seconds off the 0-60 just by itself. Long term fuel mileage is noticeable as well. :)

Roush COLD AIR INTAKE 2005 F150

Let's get this out of the way first: Go online and find the installation instructions. Take the parts list and purchase all of the fasteners listed. Why? The #64 clamp is too small...purchase the #72 clamp for excellent results. I purchased mine ahead of time so I wouldn't take away from install time. However, Roush packages all of their hardware in one bag which creates a huge quality control problem. I received 5 T20 bits and 1 of 2 lock washers. I did not receive the 6-32 Keps Nut you need 7. I had to make a trip for $1.37 in parts!!! Roush...you can do better. The quality and noticeable performance improvement using there Roush Air Intake speaks for itself. It's a simple install and very well thought out but is a pain in the ass to have to cover a parts pullers careless mistakes.

    Looks amazing

Amazing looking product, straightforward installation as long as you follow the instructions. My personal package did have 1 small issue which was the hose clamps not being the correct size, but it wasn't a big deal. Installation did take a little longer only due to me having to go out and buy the correct clamps, wasted a little extra money but nothing extravagant.

    Great addition.

My truck already had headers and dual pipes with flow masters. It definelty added a deeper rumble when on the gas. Only thing that sucks is gotta get bigger clamps.

    Great Gas Mileage

I went from 370 miles per tank to 420. I don't really notice a change in horse power. But more milage is good enough for me. I travel alot for work. Looks great too.

Easy to Install - Truck feels great!

Installed the Roush CAI today and it was pretty simple. I took one star off since it had too small of clamps. You'd think investing a few hundred dollars that Roush would provide the inexpensive and appropriate size clamps. What's up with that? $8 later from the hardware store and was able to finish the job. Took me an hour in a half due to the trip to the hardware store.

    Wrong parts

The installation process was fairly easy but the parts did not fit. I had to go out and find parts to make it work.

    Just amazing!

I’m in love with this new air intake. The difference it makes is night and day. The construction seems a lot nicer than the KandN one that I’ve seen videos of on this site. It came with clear instructions written in English. Fantastic.

    Power Gain

Quick shipping, arrived in perfect condition and with everything I’d need. Like everyone else said, the clamps are too small and you WILL need to buy x2 size 72 clamps at your local auto shop. I wasn’t impressed with the instructions given with the kit. The images are very hard to make out and aren’t very clear. Also doesn’t help that they don’t label any hardware and throw it all in one bag. Other than the clamps not being the right size and the instructions being very poor, the quality of this intake after installation definitely makes up for it. I noticed a huge difference in throttle response and high end power generally over 20 mph is where I noticed the difference. Stock trucks may be different as I am running true duals as well. Overall I’m very happy with this product ands would recommend it to any of my buddies with the 5.4 looking for a little extra power.
